Would you marry your brother's widow?
It is becoming an ongoing trend where Somali men marry their brother's widow. I understand if our forefathers did it way back in the olden age but what's the excuse now? I think it's disgusting sleeping your brother's widow. How about the kids? They will get confused, what if she has kids for you, are the kids first cousins or half siblings? Getting up from your dead brother's bed is not only disrespectful but also ceeb.
What if your brother didn't want you to marry his widow, he will basically roll in his grave.

Re: Would you marry your brother's widow?
I would want my brother to marry her instead of stranger, who I don't know how he would treat my kids.
There is also XIGSIISIN, the wife passes and her sister will marry her husband. I would like to know your opinion on this

I don't believe in xigsiin also.
Re: Would you marry your brother's widow?
Ok. This is just hypothetical.
Your sister passes. She lef a husband and kids and he would remarry. My question is how would you feel knowing how step-mothers usually treat their husband's kids?

Dumaal and xigsiisin are designed for the safety and the well being of the kids not for you to scam your dead brother's family.
Re: Would you marry your brother's widow?
I would take the kids with me. They would be raised by my family and if he refuses to hand them over, we will take him to court..CaliQase wrote:Ok. This is just hypothetical.

Unless he is incompetent, what are your chances of winning?Idman702 wrote:I would take the kids with me. They would be raised by my family and if he refuses to hand them over, we will take him to court..CaliQase wrote:Ok. This is just hypothetical.

0, not to mention it's not the Muslim way to remove the children from the father.CaliQase wrote:Unless he is incompetent, what are your chances of winning?Idman702 wrote:I would take the kids with me. Re: Would you marry your brother's widow?
Of course he will see his kids whenever he wants to but our family would raise the kids. He will gladly hand them over knowing Somali guys are allergic to responsibilities!

Helping is different than marrying the widow. Of course the family must help..salool wrote:Waa arin adag.Caruurta agoonta ah caawiya dadow..ajar weyn ba ka helaysan
