If the Hawadle backs the formation of Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle federation, that could be rewarding and benefit them very well. It was good that they rejected the so called Central state because Hawadle and HG do not have good history.

The Hawadle and Abgaal of Middle Shabelle could co-exist and join forces to keep the troublesome HG out. No doubt that central State will fail but I see harmonious state between Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle. Not to mention that they both posses pretty vast natural resources including farm lands and great tourism potentials along the Middle Shabelle semi-tropical coast in places such as Cadale. They are also just about the same size and both bring similar assets to the table so there is minimal resentment. The two have no historical animosity either.

I believe it will work. This is the only region that I see that could work in the south other than the Rahawein nation.

The fact that Mogadisu sits on the door steps of Middle Shabelle is itself strategic and Hiiraan should push for that union.

As long as HG is kept out, there is chance to succeed but HG is good spoiler. We will see if HG sees the Hawadle, Murursade and Abgaal coalition as a threat...even though they are heavily divided themselves.

We will be following the development there. I do know it will take off faster than the chaotic Central which brings together Marehan, HG, Ahlu Sunna, Salafist, lack of resources, historical animosities and the MJ to say the least.

If this region is to show proper federation with respect to the symbolic Gov in Mogadishu, it should relinquish the so called President title and take up a federal state headed by a Premier. How lame and confusing was it when Kerry visited Aden Adde airport and sit in front of him were all Presidents. He was not at all looking at the symbolic president. Big humiliation like the Great Wall of Kenya.
