Incident with confederate flag symbol leads to assault.

ROCHESTER, Minn. – A 32-year-old man is recovering after police say he was assaulted late last week.

Rochester authorities say the victim and his 13-year-old niece were in the parking lot of Meadow Park Apartments when a group of Somali males came up to them. The group started giving the girl a hard time for wearing a cap with a confederate flag on it, calling it racist. When the 32-year-old uncle stepped in and told the group to “re-educate” themselves, he was knocked to the ground and assaulted, according to police.

The victim suffered injuries to his forehead. So far, no arrests have been made.
