Dhibta dumarkeena qaar kood haysa.

Post by Inaayah »

Salaam guys,

One thing I don't understand and I hope to understand or at least get a lil' more insight is as to why do most of our fellow Somali females become wild the minute they are divorced?

And it just makes me sad because I see this so often and its like, yo dhexda inta xidhatid maad meel ka soo saartid naftaada iyo ubadkaaga?

We all know ninku ceeb ma leh (Our backwards Somali logic) so ya'll know everyone's gona be like "Wax la furo ayay qabta" when they see gabad asluub iyo sharaf laheed marka la qabay to one mid who's done a complete U-Turn.

I also don't get the talking smack about your Ex husband to everyone, whatever he is, Mar walba ubadkaaga aabahood weeyan.

Obviously I can only imagine going through a divorce is heartbreaking but I just see so much foolishness and it just baffles me.

They are trying to get over the marriage and regain the youth they lost.
Imagine saving yourself years and years for marriage - being good girl so you can marry the prefect guy- (obviously there is religion aspect to it) and then the guy turns-out to be such jerk.

TG, I guess that's how most of them see it. But why should everything be about a man? Shouldn't you have ficil by showing your ex husband that you'll be just O.K without him?

Besides, you can have fun without going backwards in life.

Maybe it has to do with the stigma of trying to get remarried after you have gone through a divorce.

I've heard some men say divorced women should only be second wives. That kind of mentality like she is some used goods is problematic and may contribute to her "wilding" out.

Also, when divorce comes to play women are made to feel as if they are failures like "ninkeekeeda ma dhaqan karin". Men never get that treatment. If she does him wrong, it's expected he gets a replacement rather quickly.

Somali society places unrealistic expectations on women with regards to marriage & none whatever on the menfolk.
