Is Somalinimo compatible with Islam?

Post by MissFiora »

The Somali baan nahay crew got me feeling some type of way. I am proud to be Somali but before being Somali I am a Muslim. And as a Muslim I've been taught the Muslim Ummah is like one body, when one limb suffers the whole body responds to it. So when I see a Muslim facing hardship I respond, I feel, it's the least I can do. To be told that I shouldn't show sympathy/empathy I believe is un-Islamic. That is all.

P.S don't give me but they don't cry for us crap #growup #stopbeingignorant

You don't have to feel no way about nothing when you know you're right (and yes you are right)...Islam and muslim before everything (if we're anything)

Somalinimo is a system of morality which is based on relative emotional values.
Anything that is based on emotional values is a mere illusion, a thoroughly vulgar conception which has nothing sound in it and nothing true.
Somalinimo was born in iniquity and conceived in sin, and it's spirit has never ceased to bend people's institutions to the service of dissension and distress.

Somalinimo /nationalism is when hate for people other than your own comes first. However Islam is when love of your own people comes first, and one is sincere and we'll wisher for his fellow Muslims.

The Times Of Somalinimo And Unity (Somaliweyn) Are Gone For Ever.
Lets rejoice and sing '' Somalinimo dhimatoo saxarkii baxyoo Somaliyoo idhil samaatey''

Nationalism/Somalinimo is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind. thus has no place in Islam.

Hold on to those principles sis. There's nothing at all wrong with that. The Somali baan ahey crew are just a bunch extreme nationalist
As Muslims we have a circle of influence (Somalida) and a circle of concern (The Muslim Ummah). While it's true our first concern should be a fellow Somalis where we can actually make our influence felt by action. There's nothing wrong with showing concern and consideration for all other Muslims when you see them in distress

Horta caydaa iyo inkaaarta waa maxay? You can't chastise individuals because they feel for a fellow Muslim. Charity begins at home, I get it! But you can't reserve empathy for only your own kind. If I see a human being who is suffering ( don't care what they are) I can't step over 'em or turn the other way and say ..hmm don't feel anything why?! Cause ur not Somali and go about my merry way. If that makes me " brainless scum" then so be it!

Empathy is a two way street. I've no interest in showing empathy and sympathy to people who make jokes about Somali infants dying of famine and generally show contempt for us.

I wish no ill toward anyone. I only care about my own.

Empathy cost nothing - showing mercy is one of characteristics of a Muslim and good human being.
Just because some Arabs are racists towards Somalis doesn't mean I should be too. For goodness sake arab governments hardly care about their own - expecting them to care for Somalis is like trying to milk a stone.
So been emotive or saying "I show them" by acting like them is just childish.
