Re: Farax and Xalimos Healthy Eating Thread
I will start posting some of the stuff I eat after Eid Insha'Allah. I am on reckless mode at the moment too many goodies around and very lil discipline. Did you say you're trying to gain weight?

Re: Farax and Xalimos Healthy Eating Thread
My favourite breakfast:
-60 grams of rolled oats.
-1 tablespoon of cocoa powder (get bio variety for higher antioxidant content).
-10 drops of liquid stevia.
-30 grams of peanut butter (chunks, not smooth).
-1 tablespoon of chia seeds (good omega 3 source).
-1 cup of hot milk.
mix it together and you got some epic stuff, nom nom nom.

To me a health diet means, no bariis, no baasto, don't miss breakfast, and don't eat later than 5PM. Walking, exercises, and drinking plenty of water - roughly one gallon of water a day. Make sure fruit and vegetable are in the diet. If you can do that, you're set for a healthy diet.

There's nothing wrong with rice. It can be part of a healthy diet in moderation. But baasto I would avoid.gegiroor wrote:To me a health diet means, no bariis, no baasto, don't miss breakfast, and don't eat later than 5PM. My question is why did we (Somalis) abandon eating sorghum (hadhuudh/haruur) when it was part of our diet for generations? I think we should replace it over rice and baasto.

That's fairly normal for a meal.
Okinawans (Japanese) have the highest life expectancy in the world and they eat a lot of rice. Just got to balance it with other things like vegetables.gegiroor wrote:My question is why did we (Somalis) abandon eating sorghum (hadhuudh/haruur) when it was part of our diet for generations?
