BREAKING NEWS IS ATTACKS A MILITARY BASE IN BOSASSO!

The former Alshabab fighters who have recently defected to Daacish have on Thursday night attacked a military base in the mountainous area of Galgalo location in the coastal town of Bossaso in eastern Somalia. According to the residents in the area both sides have exchanged light and heavy weapons including antiaircraft missiles( Zu).

The military commander of the regional state of Puntland General Siciid Mohamed Hirsi has prior the attack said that the Daacish fighters in the Galgalo mountains are organizing attacks on their military bases in Puntland and they are fully prepared to defend themselves if any attack comes from the Daacish side.

"The motive behind their attack is to show the world that the Daacish fighters in Somalia have attacked military base in Somalia" said General Mohamed.

Till now the actual casualties from both sides is not known, and this attack comes at a time when the regional government of Puntland has claimed that it has completely eradicated Alshabab or Daacish elements within its territories.

The leader of the Islamist faction in Puntland Sheikh Abdikadir Muumin has officially announced in October that they have absolutely defected from Alshabab and joined the Daacish group.

I wouldn't make too much of al-shabaab joining ISIS. The terrorist goat fockers in the sun baked Arabian desert shouldn't be made into an invincible force. The are backed by western intelligence agencies, Saudis and Turkish. Al-shabab on the other hand are protected, funded and aided by their respective clans, business men as well as elements in Government.

Linking them to ISIS only serves them as a propaganda tool and psychological terror on the masses.

Reading this news my first though was....They (al-shabaab) are indirectly taking side in the ongoing skirmishes in Gaalkacayo.

The only way I can think for al-shabaab to "conquer" somaliland is with great help from within. So I would rather worry about or ask myself if there are people in Somaliland who are misguided enough to believe they (al-shabaab) are the way to pleasant and greener pastures.

The only way I can think for al-shabaab to "conquer" somaliland is with great help from within. So I would rather worry about or ask myself if there are people in Somaliland who are misguided enough to believe they (al-shabaab) are the way to pleasant and greener pastures.

You've forget that IS is multi ethnic orgonazation.
Even if the people of SL & PL are rational, the mofo's will
bring foreigners from all over the world to the new jihaad in the Horn
with people like GrandpaKhalif working as translators/facilitators to this fitna.

You're right when it comes to the fire power & training, but
the Iraqi wasn't all that, after the fall of Mousul the leaders of the Iraqi
military exchanged blames for the retreat using whatsap messages as an evidence.

They will only expand to the horn if they managed to access a
port in the north or smuggled piles of weapons. For SL, Sanaag is the
weakest link since it's long and not monitored . But for PL it's a bigger problem

Look, AS was never a threat to SL or PL for that matter.
The were operating for how much, 10 years and the only thing
they managed to pull of is an explosion in Hargiesa and incorporating tribal militia in Galagala
with monthly random attacks here and there.

Just few days ago, AS warned IS to not enter Somalia.
Now we have defectors from AS to IS who started waging their first ever
attacks on the horn. You see my point here, IS are expanding to the horn.
The one who's smiling isn't AS, but IS.

They haven't "reached" anywhere. These are just the same disgruntled tuna who were fighting under the al-shabab banner earlier. Changing allegiance or brand name hasn't done anything for them because they still haven't received help from ISIS in the middle east or else the westerners would have been bombing them to oblivion by now with the drones based in Djibouti. This tells you that they still aren't much of a threat....yet. The day they come down from the mountains is when they will be taken seriously and even when they do that, nobody will accept them unlike the middle east where there is kurd vs shias vs sunnis vs turkmens vs god-knows-what all trying to settle scores with each other. We are more "united" in a sense so they won't be received very warmly.
