Ideas That You Think Might Have Been Stolen From You!

Are there any ideas that you've had and someone else had put it into practice and had turn out to be viable businesse and which you think were propably stolen from you?

In my younger days while in my early years of secondary school, I had worked as a paperboy where i delivered newspapers and leaflets in my local neighbourhood (the stinchy Sikh news agent I worked for used to pay me £15 a week which I thought at the time to be big and serious money). I used my bike for delivering the items.
It was during the end of my employment in this industry that I had thought of a brilliant way to make more money.
I had thought since I only use my bike only in the early mornings Monday to Friday why not lease the bike to other kids who may want to use my bike during my non business hours. So then began my short life bike hire business.
Several years later while at college and using bicycles to travel I had similar idea which this time had not materialised. Later during my college days I had this idea of establishing a bike hire business as i saw a market for it and had discussed it with my college tutor who was the business studies teacher who always told us that it’s better to share ideas and work collaboratively than isolate yourself. Again this idea of mine had not materialised due to extenuating circumstances.

Some years later some what dismayed I have come to see the London Cycle Hire Scheme come into existence and well the rest is history.

I used to lease bikes from the kids back in Dire Dawa btw. I think it was like few Birr around the block.

Not sure if I can say it was a business stolen from me but I remember back in my primary school days, I thought of a way to reduce traffic/acohol accidents.

I always heard on Australian television---X number got killed bla bla.

I thought it was a big problem like WW2

One day I was telling my idea to a friend of mine, who was never business minded. I didn't think of business either. I just had the idea/vision.

This was back in the Tupac era

I told her: I think there is a way to reduce alcohol fueld road vatalities. What if we installed some kind of breath tester in the car and to start ignition, the drive has to take breath. Even the steering wheel should be able to scan the hands and pick up hand moisture/sweat

Then it should not start if it's more than 0.05

The problem came when I tho of the solution but the solution came with more problems...what if somethong took the breath for him/her, what if they wore gloves....bla bla

Then I put it to sleep.

Of course these days there is such technology. I would say I was at least a decade ahead

I think there is a difference between business idea and business opportunty.nevertheless, it's interesting topic and i enjoyed reading it.
