Good on them, they now have a show that I might actually watch every once in a while. They're moving away from the ratchet ghetto ciyaalsuuq vibe, to a more high quality presentation.

Re: Sheeko Sheeko has upscaled
The phrase "Sheeko Sheeko" is a negative phrase, which hints at a story mascarading as the truth While "Sheekoy Sheeko" is an intro to a tale forthcoming and whether fiction or fact

I'm a bit torn about her, but she certainly is an interesting character. Initially I thought it was all a front, because I am always weary of women who put up a high-pitched, whiny, nasal voices and who are overly nice. Because its usually a fake charade, a façade. Added to that is the excessive and artificial "Mashalah, fiisabililah, inshalah" which I usually associate with the overzealous religious types who like to put on a show. But after listening to her I think she's articulate, intelligent and well spoken. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt though because I don't know her personallyjalaaludin5 wrote:The hijabi sister![]()

I watched it again and I have to say manshaallah to the sister. Comfortable in her religious beliefs and level headed. Defending the somali hijabi that support Donald Trump. While the cute xalimo next to her insulted the hijab by calling it a 'tacky outfit'. You can always tell xalimos with a chip on their shoulder when it comes to the hijab.
Interesting how the conservatives are in a way more in line with Islam, in term of their opposition to gay marriage, abortions and family values yet hate refugees/Muslims/ethnic minority.

How about we take a leaf from her book and give each other (her) the benefit of the doubt. We owe each other (as she put it) that much at least.TheFuturist wrote:I'm a bit torn about her, but she certainly is an interesting character. Why is manshaallah, subhanalah and alx a charade? Overzealous? If I didn't know better this is where I would accuse you of been an Islamophobe with an agenda. But I won't do that so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
Those phrases are like our daily dikir and a constant reminder of our Islamic identity. Any group of people that adhere to a particular faith have similar phrases which is tied to their religious beliefs. I don't know why that would bother you.

There's nothing wrong with using it as part of everyday language. But in my opinion if its used too often it become irritating and detracts from the conversation at hand. Call me a pessimist, but it does then makes me wonder if it's a show or genuine sincere use of the term.jalaaludin5 wrote:How about we take a leaf from her book and give each other (her) the benefit of the doubt. As for her, out of all the panellists I agreed with her the most. Our views are very similar indeed.

Are you sure you Somali? lol
It's nothing knew. I think because you want to make into an issue which is why you find it irritating. I don't know if you have some friends who speak amharic, but when the talk they are the Christian version of that sister in the clip.
So no biggie!
