Dude, in the East Hararghe/Jijiga Zone, Oromo and Somali identity is interchangeable as the Afran Qallo Oromo are in many cases indistinguishable from Somalis and have subclans which are of Somali descent . Why do you think the Oromo buggers became so numerous after their expansion into the Northern parts of the Horn? :(

You can tell because their clan names betray their Somali origin such as the Warra Bursukh (Barsuug), Warra Qallu (Means Sheekhal Priests),Jarso: Warra Maxamud, Warra Cumar, Warra Cusman, Warra Dawaro. The Babille Afran Qallo Oromo are named after a region and are not even an Oromo clan; they are mainly Karanle, Gugundhabe Hawiyes and other Somali clans.

The Afran Qallo Oromo Somalis switch to a Somali identity when they venture into Somali territory and are not as exotic in appearance as the other Oromos that have swamped Waqooyi and Bari in more recent times.

The Gurgura of East Hararghe and Dire Dawa were not incorporated into the Oromo clan structure but are mainly Oromo speakers due to intermarriage with neighbouring Afran Qallo, and the adoption of a agriculture. A lot of the 'Oromos' you see in Seattle and Minneapolis are Gurgura that do not speak Somali.

To illustrate how all confusing it all is, look at this Dire Dawa Oromo soap on youtube and look at the first name of the director (Sharmarke).

You need to write a book or set up a blog on this before this knowledge is lost, with the way things are going, the next 100 or so years the Somali identity will be lost, I have already met a lot of Raxanweyne from Baidoa claiming to be Oromo's and not Somali's, in Hargaisa the oromo's I saw claimed to be Somali's and spoke more fluent then I did.

Wow that explains why Oromo are flooding into everywhere Somalis are like Minneapolis, Seattle, and Toronto. They attach to us everywhere we go but the culture is different and they mostly keep to themselves. That is some deep insight I didn't know a lot of them them were transitional Somali lost tribes because the ones in Minneapolis look like Somalis for the most part but they speak oromo. I'd say about a third of them know Somali though especially the over 35 Year olds who are mostly fluent in Somali. It's just the younger generations that lost their af Somali

Scary shit man how are these whole Somali tribes getting absorbed into Oromo I mean the only Oromos that claim Somali are the Garre that live in the Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia triangle the rest will claim Oromo straight up. What's going on

BTW if Somalia isn't carefull about their immigration they're gonna be overun like the Europeans currently are by the Arabs and West Africans and your gonna wake up in 50 years and everybody will speak Oromo

Garrett are Somali they probably spoke a Somali language similar to many and tunni but during the rooms expansion they were conquered and incorporated into the oromo nation.
More than 200 years later they kept their separate identify and rebelled and even defeated and conquered their oppressors and captured Territory from them.
However more than 200 years have made their language become heavily oromosized.
