having a big number of soldiers is nothing if you can't arm them, or if they poorly trained

Morocco, ALgeria , Sudan , Angola , Nigeria can all beat ethiopia if they wanted to. Their peacekeeping missions and their penetration of somalia isn't exactly a good cv  all countries can provide peacekeepers all it takes is jut signing up with the UN and attacking a country that has been unstable for 20 years doesn't make it a LION

like I said, its only a lion in the horn region

Ethiopians aren't particularly brave or highly trained, but they do have seemingly endless supplies of human connon Fodor. They employ old Soviet tactics of deploying ground troops, artillery barrage, gunships simultaneously to overwhelm their enemy.

Also those counties you have listed with the exception of Sudan have no real combat experience. Angola was pretty powerful military, but it's only a shadow of former self.

Also Ethiopia don't forget Ethiopia war with Eritrea. That was real meat grinder. Over 250,000 died from both sides. I was in Ethiopia when war was happening and we didn't know country was at war because, like I said, they can absorb loses more so than Kenya, Uganda and these other countries you have mentioned

Ethiopia has some advantages, Its geographic position and enormous population would make it hell for any country to try and invade it even the most powerful ones. Defeating its army is one thing but invading it is something way different. Countries like Sudan, Morroco etc may be able to defeat ethiopian army but they can never invade ethiopia.

yes most countries i listed might have little combat experience but those countries have huge training exercises taking place the whole year specially north african countries. But again in this age there isn't any country that wants or needs to invade ethiopia other than eritrea. It costs huge money

You and your obsession with technicals. An AK-47 bullet can go through a pickup truck's body, much less a 50 caliber gun or tank shell which will obliterate it.

If Oromos take off their federally assigned army fatigues, Ethiopia will be a shell of its former self. Oromos are the backbone of Ethiopia's much hyped but obsolete army.

Don't knock technicals.
Ethiopia's as well as most third world armies are not very mechanised or motorised.
Most of their troops fight and move on foot.

If you can ambush their tanks and apc/ifvs with manpads
Then your technicals will tear those poor buggers to pieces.

It's like cavalry against infantry again.
Poor buggers will be run down.

There are many different anti-tank rockets that can be mounted on technicals. And even if the tank is fast enough to take down several technicals per minute, The technical crew can personally deal with the tank firing the anti-tank rocket directly from their shoulders. Tanks are not designed to shoot persons, they don't have that accuracy.

Look up the Western roles during Menelik II, Haile Selassie and Mengistu. When these rulers feel threatened by other countries, the West intervenes and saves them.

They have the Western backing. Without them, Ethiopia would collapse.

This global ranking looked pretty amatuer when i first saw it, i knew it could not have come from the CIA.
then after closer observation i discovered that it was some random people that used wikipedia and CIA world facts and compiled this work.
this is in no way or form accurate,
this stuff is in real life very complex and difficult to limit to rankings..

my opinion is ignore this.
this is in no way or form accurate

It's been this way for the last 500 Years going back to the Portuguese days with us Somalis since were new to the scene. Ethiopia always has allies that show up in its aid whenever they meet adversity or loss of hegemony

Even going back the Greek and Roman days they received legions to quell uprisings in their Yemen colonies

I think they have the Arch of the covenant which many have rumored to be in their posession which might explain their constant domination over their enemies in the region

Call it divine intervention or whatever you want but the Ethiopians are always on the winning side throughout history and somebody always shows up to save the day for them
