60s Ethiopian music appreciation thread!!
When i was growing up, my mom who is amhara used to listen to all these great old Ethiopian music that was made during socialost times, all their music seems a lil depressing but there are some good somgs. Ethiopian music of the 60s and 70s were probably some of the best music the horn has ever produced. I just wanted to make a appreciation tread for theis special types of music known as Tezeta or Ethiopian blues. Please leave out the politics, we could still enjoy Ethiopian msuic without involvijg politics (Even tho most amharas i know on my mother side didnt support the annexation of ogaden).

Im half amhara, half somali i grew up with my mother, since my father left her for another woman. I dont see any problem with having an ethiopian music appreciation thread once in a blue moon.balwarama wrote:this is not Ethiopian forum or eastafrican for that matter U Habashi/Iidoor scum whats up with the Iidoors now adays and their new found love for all thats Habashi go establish your own temples to worship ur Habash overlords oops I meant Forums

I understand the Ogadens have nightmares over the Amhara rulers but they need to over come their past somehow.
There is no need to inject your issues in everything.
My friend doesn't need to justify nor does he has to declare his mother is Amhara to share his taste in music, food, girls, arts, etc.
You lot are sharing Bantu music, African American, Arabs, and even Indians-----why you so scared of Amhara?
And no I don't need 'usernames' to troll but I influence.
The blues ain't dead.
Here is Abdul Kiar's newest single called Yene Mar, which means My Honey.
But I prefer traditional music especially Wollo (Sakota, Rayyaa, Irob/Erob) and Gojjami (Agew, Amhara).
Here is one from the little known Irob people
All three ethnics (Agew, Tigrais and Irob) perform this particular dance called awri during the ashenda/shandoya festival.
Irob version
Agew Sakota version
Tigray
