Horses in Gabiley are not short like Reer Bari Somaliland and reer konfuur. It is probably due to two reasons.

1.Enviroment
2.Good Breeding

The enviroment in Gabiley is perfect for the horses since there will always be grass for it to eat.Remember that horses need to each much much more then the Camel and needs to be constantly hydrated.Sadly the enviroment in other Somalia areas is akin to Mars or a post nuclear war world.

Also the Horses in Gabiley have been breeded with the many types of Horses that have been brought from the Oromo or Highlands and also imported Arabian breeds from Yemen(less common though and not in pure form).

Oromo Horsemen for example

Note the somalis do not put what is called " un mors a cheval " in French { i dunno the name in english , which consist in putting a piece of metal in the mouth of the horse in order to subdue him better . Not putting anythging is much more humane  but the horse is less workable .
