The essence of manhood

Post by Raganimo »

Are men everywhere alike in their concern (and desire) for being manly?

Is the concept of manliness meaningless and entirely culturally relative?

For the last several weeks we have been exploring the answers to these questions by discussing the findings contained in Dr. David D. Gilmore’s Manhood in the Making.

Twenty years ago, Gilmore set out to conduct an exhaustive cross-cultural analysis of how masculinity is perceived and lived around the world.

What he discovered was that far from being exceptional and widely divergent, conceptions of what constitutes a “real man” have been common and consistent through time and around the world. A distinct code of manhood has not only been part of nearly every society on earth — whether agricultural or urban, premodern or advanced, patriarchal or relatively egalitarian — these codes invariably contain the same three imperatives; a male who aspires to be a man must protect, procreate, and provide.

The protector role requires:

Physical strength and endurance.

Skill in the use of weapons and strategy.

Courage – the ability to stand one’s ground, even when inwardly scared.

Physical and emotional stoicism – an insensibility to physical pain and coolness under pressure.

Voluntary, graceful acceptance of one’s expendability – a man glories in the fact he may have to lay down his life for his people.

Public demonstration of one’s aptitude in the protector role, as shown through physical contests (wrestling, sparring, competitive sports). It is important not only to demonstrate strength and skill in these contests, but to show one’s gameness – that you’re a scrapper who’ll keep coming back for more even when battered.

Why men were historically given this role:

Men have on average greater physical strength than women.
Wombs are more valuable than sperm.

I favour social intelligence and knowledge that can get me access to wealth over this physical strength, endurance and weapon nonsense..

silver back gorillas are easily avoided or outsmarted, also I have confidence in the rule of law as we do not live a primitive life in the wilderness, worst case scenario I am associated with many 2m tall thugs, no need for me to get my hands dirty even in the worse case scenario...

Willing to give up your life ? hell nah, dafuq is that ? My calling is to live and spread my seed and succeed, life is already short just ride it out till the end.

The whole don't feel emotional thing is also BS, I enjoy my emotional side, and this is perhaps why I like women so much, they bring it out in me, and they love it when I express my world of emotions.. Other times I can be emotionally free with my closest friends and family without judgement.

Men don't only exist in war and conflict, this article focuses on protector/provider.... How about just enjoy the peace and the pleasure of life.. thats the kind of man I am and aspire to be, to enjoy life and be pleasant human being that attract good people.

Don't get me wrong, glory seekers, its understandable.. I don't seek glory, I am ambitious in a different way.

Unfortunately I see you have been poisoned by the MRM and the “Redpill”. A lot of the “science” parroted by these movement are founded on “evolutionary science” which is complete guess work. If you actually read and learn about ancient societies, you will see the utmost importance that they placed on the semen/sperm from the Chinese, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and even hunter gathers like native Indians. Sperm is actually more valuable than the womb since it’s a living entity. Sperm itself has nourishing effects on the males body, the impact of ejaculation on male is MUCH greater than modern science allows you to think. Unejaculated semen over time is broken down and reabsorbed, since semen is created from the best properties available in the body, there’s no greater health protocol than semen retention, semen has numerous vitamins, trace elements, minerals, amino acids, 191 amino acids found in Somatropin (HGH) and many more other things

This “expendable” male bullshit, womb more valueable and alpha having the “pick” of the women is bullshit, pseudoscience at best. The truth is, all these “sciences” and theories are nothing else but a plot to dehumanize men and make them feel worth less. The rabbit holes goes deeper than you think.
