To be honest i never said the british were ahead of the germans , I am a major fan of german aerospace and millitary technology of the 30's and 40's.thehappyone wrote:Gurey 25, I don't believe the British were ahead of the Germans during WW2. Remember, the Germans use to regularly bomb London during those times, while the UK couldn't fly over German territories without being knocked out of the sky.
The reason the US got ahead of the world and was able to develop rapidly after WW2 was all the captured German scientists and technical data. And it wasnt just the US who benefited from this, but UK and Russia as well. The Germans were well ahead of everyone during those times.
Another very little known fact is, maybe Shirib would know this since he lives in Seattle....is that the founder of Boeing was 1st generation German living in the U.S.
The germans were the most creative and they had some of the best designs in the world but they hurt themselves by mismanaging production,
mismanaging development, duplicating efforts, stupid requests and orders from idiots in high office of the nazi party and hitlers ridiculous requests too.
In aerospace you could have solved several major problems with 3 or more systems like the fock wolf fighter if Herman Goring had a heart attack one day and died.
The germans were addicted to over engineering, a weapons system is supposed to get the job done efficiently and does not have to look good, and feel good.
they needed KISS to be drummed into their skulls (Keep it simple Stupid).
but despite all these odds and handicapps what the germans produced were amazing, The Fock Wolf 159, the tiger and panther tanks,
and not to mention the V-2 the basis of both the US and Soviet space programs till the 60's.
The US stole from everybody, and they had more money to throw at projects, but they still had good engineers too, but bothe brits and germans were ahead of them.
