Let's not derailed this topic with petty tribalism please. Even if you have an agenda you gotta at least be able to articulate your view.
You can not ask me to articulate my view without giving me necessary input, namely the answer to a fundamental question regarding your tribal affiliation.

We can not continue the discussion before you divulge which subclan of Hawiye you hail from. Then a member from your clan must validate your claims.

THEN AND ONLY THEN will a meaningful discussion be possible I am afraid.

See, knowing which subclan you hail from gives us much needed context, both historical and geopolitical to your loaded question. It is virtually impossible to answer you without having that information. This is the reason many members are seen to be 'derailing' the topic. They feel obliged to respond to your thread but with the absence of such vital information they are merely passing time until you provide us with information-kaaga.

Dont delay this please, it is inevitable, and we are waiting.

TheMightyNomad wrote:I disagree we are no more divisive than the next group of people. There is no group on earth that hold no divisive nature, Humans can be 100% alike and still find ways to divide themselves. One example is Yugoslavia among many.

However i would say Somalis are culturally and socially united. Which can be attributed to being of the same Ethnic/Race. Where we are disunited is when it comes homeland politics.

I gave the reasons behind this political division on this thread. I know it's lengthy but please read it and give me your informed opinion.

https://www.somalinet.com/forums/viewto ... 8#p4748398

I enlisted the different factors from the widespread grievances (Unequal political participation and unequal resource distribution) that came about due to the imposition of incompatible structures and the constant adherence to western and non-Somali values & political ideologies.

As well as the totalitarianism of the former regime that triggered and embedded the mistrust by suppressing these inequities.

I also highlighted the solutions to the conflict and political division in Somalia in my conclusion on the first post.
I will read your link but I want to respond to your point here a little bit.

Every ethnicity/linguistic group has had their fair share of division, but when they're up against other ethnicities in most cases they always show up together, especially when they aren't a large group to begin with. We're a nation of 10 million up against 2 nations (Kenya and Ethiopia) with over 80 million Christians tightening their grip on us and we have no where to run but the ocean. Let's be honest, we're langaabs facing a daunting task for survival and yet we choose to fight internally over dusty tuulos instead of competing with Nairobi and Addis Ababa.

Yugoslavia was not a nation-state. They didn't share the same religion (division between Orthodox, Catholics, and Muslims) or language (Croat-Serb-Bosnian, Greek, Slovenian, etc), not to mention the Balkans was always a war zone throughout the past few centuries. A better comparison would be Ethiopia and Yugoslavia, which makes Ethiopia look really good because they've been able to restore order despite many civil wars and division.

Look up which private group I'm in and you can decipher what I am from there. No need for other users to validate anything.

You want each city to be an independent entity? :) Sub sub sub clans would be fighting within each other for leadership. There is no hope for this cursed ethnic group. Cursed since 69.

If we're not the same people why do we speak the same language? Not trying to invalidate your point, but no one has explained thoroughly why all 16-20 million of us speak Somali.

Surely some of us must have been conquered by the original "Somalis" in order for all of us to be in the same linguistic group. Just like the English conquered most of the world hence why we're speaking their language and typing it as we go.

I don't believe in Somali unity and that's not what I'm advocating in my posts. The "iska illow" mentality is not going to solve anything. If the country breaking down into qabiil-states is the solution why have we not accomplished that yet? Surely that's what most Somalis want.

We live in the white man's world and the white man says Somalia is going to remain intact regardless of our wishes, so like the indayar we have to figure out how to work around this instead of remaining idle. Even the Bantus figured this out and they are far more divided than we are.

"The Somalis are a fierce race of republicans, constantly changing political loyalties-the Somalis lived in what amounted to a state of chronic political schizophrenia, verging on of anarchy."
-Sir Richard Burton, 19th century.
Fast forward to the 21st century and we're still the same. :snoop:
