Thanks for article gegi. Its interesting to read, too long though.

In this day and age---I don't understand why Somalis in the west don't invest in livestocks. We shouldn't depend on rain with all the technologies. How about irrigation? Plant Trees. Lets start using the brain God gave us yaaee

PS the article writer Fatima Jibrell could not help mentioning Siyaad bare--albeit just a little .

As a nation we are stumbling from one crisis to another.
When will the penny drop and folk realise we need a unified, recognised and functioning government to open the country.

We need more than that, we need patriotic, morally upright and religious, highly skilled people in charge.
A unified functioning government alone will not even scratch the surface of our problems.
But this why Allah gave us our intellect and other qualities, so that we can accept life's challenges.
If you have imaan all is possible.

Your right sxb......but I'm setting the bar low.
Why can't we achieve what every other basket case African country/neo colony has.....basic schooling, commerce, law and order.
I'm not talking about putting a man on the moon....but putting food in our peoples mouths.

Look at the current state of the sugar factoryFuturist wrote:Couldn't have said it any better.LiquidHYDROGEN wrote:1) We should not be dependent on livestock exports. We need and actual industrial and manufacturing sector.

Since we do not know why , I am not gonna say anything about it
Re: Saudi Arabia bans Somali livestock again
We need meat factories where we only export a canned meat and not live livestock. Many countries do these in order to employ more people in their factories, and we need to copy this model.
But until we reach that point, we need rigid controls on Somali ports where we only export male goats, male camels, and male sheep. It was reported recently that some Somali businessmen have been exporting female sheep and female goats to the MENA region. This is dangerous to Somali people's only export, so we need awareness and pressures imposed on port authorities in different Somali regions.

Re: Saudi Arabia bans Somali livestock again

the ban is temporary as stated in the paper due to some of the livestock were infected with Rift Valley fever & foot-and-mouth disease
