A decade is 10 years, i think you mean centuries.X.Playa wrote:Decades? This journalist is ill informed and he contradicts his own reporting. At one hand he acknowledged that the isaaq arrived when lord Delmere left Hargaysa in 1895 with isaaq horsemen and guides crossing the Shabeele the Juba and the Tana reaching the Kenyan highlands. Yet he keeps saying isaaq were in kenya for decades lol that's 125 years 5 generations not decades.
The first pioneers arrived there in 1895-1896 later some more joined and when the East africa protectorate was declared over Kenya later Somalis including isaaq participated in the war against Germany as a cavalry. Tanzania become a British protectorate and isaaq migrated further south establishing themselves as rangers in Caruusha.
In the 1920s the British introduced racial taxes where the native paid the least and thus were classified as a third class barring them from best schools and hospitals and jobs. The isaaq then formed the isxaaqiya rejecting the racial poll taxes , the campign later hired Faaraax Oomaar as a chairman and spoke person. Travelling back and forth from SL , Aden and East Africa. Later the isaaq encouraged the Daarood Harti to join the cause . Some joined like the Dhulbahante but the majority of the Daarood chose to pay what the isaaq called " gibir bide " or slave taxes. Jaamac Taleefan or Talafoon a British dhulbhaante who lived in UK acted as a lawyer. The campign finally died out due to the second world war. The dhulbahante in East Africa were part of the isxaaqiya.
Mamaxmed Nuur Fadal and Saalax Ma Lay Diray were among the poets who joined the anti poll tax campaign, Fadal died in Nairobi in the 1940s he is buried in Eastleigh . Xussen Xasan the ciidagale poet warrior was part of Delmere expedition in 1895. Xasan Tarrabi also joined the Isxaaqiya community in The 1940s he died in Tanzania in the 1970s. Among notable Isxaaqiya in Tanzania was the ciidagale commander of the army during Julius Neyreri presidency he led the troops that toppled Iidi Amiin. Also Cabdilaahi Qarshe and some SNM officers like Xuseen Tanzania and SNA officer Cabdiraxmaan Tanzani whom the SSDF assassinated in the early 80s.
Shut your mouth man. JeezGAMES wrote:Isaaqs are really too dumb. Kenya offered to recognize them if they would allow the imports of Kenyan Khat (Miraa) into the country.
That was a missed opportunity, IMO. They should have allowed it and as soon as they got their Ictiraaf papers signed, banned it.
