Did Siad Barre betray somali army in 1977 war?

Post by luis1 »

Many somalis think Siad Barre was afraid of somali army power so he invaded Ogaden because he knew a long war with Ethiopia would be impossible to win.

Barre goal was not defeating Ethiopia, his truly objective was eliminating political rivals and opponents within armed forces.

Some somalis did want a Somalia victory in 1977, because if Barre won the war, his clan would rule Somalia without opposition.

This Kuuba naaso weyne has been obsessed with this war since he first arrived on this site, more than a decade ago.
Enjoy your time in Peru, heck you might return back to Cuba since Castro died a while back.

siad barre was bad, but what came after his governments collapse was and is worse......
in his time, ethiopia would not dare invade, today, ethiopia operates in over 60 percent of somali territories....
the difference is clear to see

Victory has a thousand fathers , but defeat is an orphan, barre and the whole Somali nation were very determined to invade and defeat Ethiopia. Unfortunately We won the battle but lost the war . Barre was a good military man but he has never been a good politician that's the biggest reason we lost the war. I mean he shouldn't phuk with the Soviet block in this crucial time . Your long nippled Cubans where nothing but Soviet owned cheap prostitutes, the only reason you sided with the Ethiopians is because the angry soviets ordered you to do so. You would have ended up fighting for us if Barre had a good political skills. His Arrogance and the Somali 'Qab' pridefulness led us to our downfall.

I have no reason to lie about my ethnicity.
I'm just being honest. He was a dictator but better than Ethiopia and the west controlling Somalia.
And don't forget siad hosted many Oromo liberation fighters including my father and my uncles...

This sounds like sensationalist propaganda. It's like me shooting my ceeb off because I wanted a vasectomy lmao. The invasion of Ethiopia was done at that time because Ethiopia was very unstable at the time.

Barre was never a qabiilist it is obvious since he did not develop his clan's territories, all the goodies were in key locations like Banadir and Waqooyi Gaalbeed etc. He didn't operate like that.

He also only began using qabiil to maintain control after his authority was challenged in 1978, he used it as a tool to maintain his position as President.

Why do darod throw around "he didn't develop his regions " as evidence of his lack of qabyaalad? The reason he didn't develop his regions is because his people were living in other clans regions such as Mogadishu and northern darod lived in hargeisa

Because it is evidence lmao.

The argument you just put forth is so pathetic, even more pathetic than the arguments SL uses for independence. I think I am observing a trend.

You should be thankful that Barre left you with that nice port and other infrastructure like that cement factory you guys destroyed. It's a shame you haven't looked after your goodies, and a disgrace that you haven't hadn't added to them in your '25 years of peace and prosperity' kkkkkkkk.

I will take you seriously when you stop being a leech on the Somali people and move back to your hellhole regions instead of being in Mogadishu and hargeisa like rats. You can't do shit for yourselves.
