They became dominant in the Ogaden from controlling the house of Parliament in the Somali kilil through having a very strong representation in EPRDF. Alot of Ogaden politicians and businessmen were rounded up and branded supporters of ONLF. This enabled iidoor businessmen to exploit this situation and make the most out of this.
As the itixad and ONLF dissidents raged war against the regime. They had by then dominated the business and the politics in the Ogaden and convincing Meles that the Ogaden were infact a minority in the Somli Kilil. They moved to harassing and mistreating the Ogaden businessmen in Hargeisa. Alot of them were robbed and then branded as ONLF financiers and then sent to Ethiopia in hand cuffs .SL also started financing wars in the Ogaden by turning peaceful villagers into enemies by supplying non Ogaden clans with weapons and inciting them to attack Ogaden villages. When SL declared war on ONLF by rounding up ONLF militia as they passed through the region. ONLF retaliated and started to ban the SL trucks in the region this was a great blow and the beginning of the end of their domination in the region. It was not long before TPLF dissidents shot C Majid in Addis and made him incapacitated.

Then after a while alot of Ogadens started opposing the ONLF and Meles changed his strategy.

Today the iidoor have no significant influence in the Ogaden.Their role as the key for polarising Somalia is over too.
Galmudug is more significant to Ethiopia than SL because of its strategic location.Also there is no Afghani or Godane influencing the South Somalia.
