Sticky request for Abaarta thread.

Post by X.Playa »

We need a sticky thread for abaarta. This is a national disaster. I have watched enough horrifying videos. We need a sticky thread till the rain come.

It's unbelievable I was watching people comminig from as far as Danood . This elder who came from Danood said he lost all his herd and family. It's a disaster in equal proportion even more then dabar dheer draught.

We have few months to go. Basically it will take decades for the livestock to recover, the life stock is finished now people are dying.

I was watching Wasiir Samsam running from East to west what a great woman. What's sad is no other politicians gives a damn about this catastrophic draught. The situation is dire imagin another 4 months, even wild animals are dying in massive numbers all wild horses are dead.

I can't post Facebook videos of the draught and effort please post every video you can find.

We need 100% focus on this national disaster. The draught brought all clans together they are facing certain death abaar knows no clan.

Please stop the xisbi xisbi xaar and xaflado till the draught is over. We need daily updates. I believe it will get worst.

By the way how this draught affecting our neighbors in Ethiopia and Puntland? If the people from SL are running back from Daanod due to the draught I believe it's even worst for the Ogden and other tribes.

It's big disaster and Idoor still arguing about dying habro.

In Hawd it's as bad as SL.

I know things are severe as far as Wardheer where my abti returned from.

Millions face starvation in Ethiopia especially Somali, Afar, eastern and south eastern Oromo...

Ethiopia already requested close to $1 billion in aid (backed by the UN).

That's what I assumed. The Ethiopians have a media blockade on the region but it's worst then SL.

It looks like this draught will break the back of the live stock business, people who had 300 head of sheep and goats have 80 left. Imagin every Somali nomad with the same statistics. Just thinking about the fact we have until April for rain is depressing and imagin god forbids if the gu rain fails. It happened in many ocassins in the last century gu rain failing :meles: total catastrophe.

Fock SL mate. The place is useless. Their entire revenue is from livestock processed in Berbera and they can't even protect that.

This year revenue will be down by at least 60-70%.

That trade is over. It will take a decade to recover. At least 90% of animals won't make it.

What I don't understand is why they failed to notice its an Alninyo year and Alninyo takes place every 10 years approximately always it means its a draught for us.

Don't these people watch weather news and prediction.? How the entire SL media failed to notify our society that a draught is coming its an Alninyo year.

People are now using their remittance money so that they can feed their animals .the situation is more dire for those who do not receive remittances from abroad .

It's a symptom of the Somali race. No thinking outside the box or initiative whatsoever. We don't even have someone who records daily weather, temperature and rainfall for god's sake. This sort of thing can be avoided by gathering and using statistics building reservoirs and underground storage tanks to preserve rainwater. Not to mention we have Now entire coastline and we utilise very little of the sea. We are chopping any and every tree and bush for firewood which further deteriorates the soil and encourages desertification.

Too bad there's no reservoirs in place to capture the rains, and 90% of the water will be washed away.

We'll be back to the same predicament later on this year if we don't invest in portable water well drills & other measures to retain water during rainy season for future use.

I checked the erigavo weather. It never predicts rain!!!

Couldn't tell from the video which area received the rain and if it rained in erigavo it should also rain in ceelafweyn!

you dont get it.the reason these droughts re-occur is simple
Somalia's biggest Threat is the country is turning into a dessert/dust bowl, nearly 2/3 of the country is a desert wasteland from loyacade to galgaduud central somalia and secondly each woman has an average of 7 children. if we dont invest in fisheries we are fked.
