Isn't Balanbale where a xasuuq happened in the 80s? Voltage, could you shed some light?

Yes, it was one of two towns captured by Ethiopian forces the other being Goldagob. The Ethiopians committed war crimes against Marehan and Layl Kase in those two towns.

My dad was the forces that defended & Liberated both Balaanbale & Goldogob. Ethiopian planes used to bomb them, and they also mined the area.

Somali army never liberated Balambale and Goldogob, these towns were returned to Somalia by Ethiopia in 1988.
