The question is do you see any military decorations on him? This imbecile few years later along his clan were all decorated generals.
The usual blah blah blah for why they were nothing in Somalia. Siad Barre was brigadier general before Somalia even got independence. He was made major general and deputy Commander of the armed forces starting July 1st, 1960. He became commander in chief in 1965.

Siad Barre was the commander of the armed forces at that time when Abdirashid was president in that pic. Cigaal was Prime Minister and Cigaal was big on reapproachment with Ethiopia.

Here is a CIA fax to State Department on October 21, 1969. Notice the CIA say they have been observing for sometime now that Siad Barre was an OUTSPOKEN CRITIC of Cigaal and the military under his orders had been undercutting Cigaal and his detente for years.

It's like in Egypt, with the military bringing down the Muslim Brotherhood.

You could see Siad Barre's coup de'tate in advance from the way he considered Cigal an enemy to the Somali state and his orders to his military to support Ethiopian separatists like Arsi Oromo against the wishes of Cigaal.

In that picture, the irony is we have a man who was already functioning like Supreme Commander of the Somali State.

This is is Siad Barre in 1958 when he was made a Brigadier General. His decorations are right there. The picture of Abdirashiid and Barre when Barre was Commander in Chief with the shorts is some laid back military attache meeting. The bigger picture shows all of the military leaders in shorts with plain shirts.

Is that all you have against your long time Supreme Commander?

For you he was your great leader, father of the nation.
For us we find it offensive to display his picture, and you expect us to be in the same country?

No, it means not being filled with hatred, I thought you were a moderate but I guess not. And no one is insulting you mate, I am fasting first of all and what would I gain from insulting you, I agree some hate Siad Barre some love Siad Barre and some are neutral, but its 2017, Somaliland faces many challenges as a breakaway nation Siad Barre and SNM battle is over mate, lets see if Somaliland succeeds and if it does monkey see monkey do, I expect many more break away states.
