Comparing clan identities and Y-DNA ancestry would reinforce the blood ties that unite members of a clan and it could also illustrate that certain clans have at some point in history assimilated others into their clan.
It would be fascinating for anthropologists to research Somali clan identities and I believe our relatively insular ethnic group would yield interesting results. The matriarchal links between different clans is common knowledge among Somalis and this IMO illustrates how most Somalis were formed from a small group of people that were united by occupation or possibly religious beliefs.
However, it might be difficult to obtain volunteers for such a study due to clan insecurities or a desire not to disturb the status quo. As evinced on Snet, some people have too much invested in fraudulent clan myths that the truth would be too much of a shock to their system.
In regard to the mysterious HG-T, what would be interesting is to determine for certain whether it came downstream from Egypt (most likely) or from the Arabian peninsula because its presence among Somalis appears to be the result of a founder effect.
Has anyone seen this abtiris before?

Darood was in 966 that means Samale and Sab are old as shitprobably living in the 3rd/4th century maybe even older!!
Didn't think Somalis were that old damn.
easy easy boy , easy easy. Never mind so called Doofaar/Daarood the man that was supposedly his father Ismaaciil Al-Jabarti died as recently as 1404 A.D according to his biography . so this fake 35 and all that Daarood mumbo jumbo is nothing but a decorated Oromo genealogy.

Not as much with Dir clan. Y-DNA of Dir is undeniably unquestionable. It would be interesting if a researcher did more comparison between abtiris and Y dna ancestry, though perhaps that could be socially damaging?
Re: Has anyone seen this abtiris before?
And how did you know this? It's equally possible that it's all real and a man called Darood lived in 966.X.Playa wrote:somaliler wrote:I count 35 generation to Darood and there are 30 years in a generation. that means Darood lived 1050 years ago!

simple I read his biography and Ismaaciil Al Jabarti al-Cuqayli Al-Zubaydi is a famouse Sufi mullah and his time and era is well recorded , he had no son called Daarood nor Cabdiraxmaan and he died around 1404.

Re: Has anyone seen this abtiris before?
The Aqeeli abtiris of Darod has been disproven, some tricky genealogist tried to link Ismacil Jabarti to the famous Yemeni Sufi scholar, but modern DNA analysis has shown that to be highly unlikely anyways. That doesn't mean that there wasn't a Darod, just that that particular genealogy is incorrect.
Re: Has anyone seen this abtiris before?
am talking about the long crazy genealogy like 35 generation and such that Daarood claim which is a bogus crap. Some of them claim their Sultanate began in the 13th century , which is even bizarre , .

Re: Has anyone seen this abtiris before?
People used to come to our regions and citys an when we welcomed them we used to let them use our clans abtirsi to get protection from the other clans like u meet a guy an u ask him what ur abtirsi then he say now im raxaweyn but i used to be ogaden or mj or dir or ajuuran so that dosnt mean we from other clans then people from some of these sheegats go and spread lies like we are confederation from other clans just use ur heads how can digil an mirifle have the maay dialect when the other clans dont have it
