Message to Abdi IIay : don’t wait for TPLF ‘s joining Eritrea or last minute. They wouldn’t conceal with you or care about you. Prepare how to secure Ogaden ‘s borders and consulate with American embassy to exchange gas contracts For joining Somalia as federal state.

Putin was in Cairo in December to discuss military cooperation between Russia and Egypt.
Sudan and Egypt relationship hit new low. Flames of verbal fires are raging and intensifying between them right now.
Obviously, Egyptian bombers can not fly over Sudan to hit the dam in Ethiopia. They will have to navigate over the Red Sea.
In the famous leaked video of Mursi's cabinet meeting, they were discussing bolstering the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) to weaken Ethiopia.

Ethiopians can not defend themselves against the attack, let alone retaliate. Egyptian army is the strongest among Arab nations and the 3rd in ranking after Turkey and Israel in the Middle East. Their only saviors are the U.S. and Israel. Since Egypt is a prominent member in the grand-master Jared Kushner's club of kowtowing Arabs, it will be hard for Trump and Netanyahu to side with Addis Ababa. American/Israeli plans are much more grandiose for the Middle East. The Ethiopian dam is immaterial to them. They are in a wrestling match with Russia/Turkey/Iran team over the future of the region. So far, the latter is winning. So, Egypt's importance is even higher right now for them.

In conclusion, if Egypt decides to go ahead with their plans, there is not much Ethiopia can do.

Anyway here is an interesting recent analysis:

finally someone to keep Ethiopia busy while we develop and secure our border with Kenya, Ethiopia is in mess but its not our problem we are not Ethiopians we are Somali from Somalia, we are neutral. What abdi iley does is up to him, he was their slave for so many years he probably will know how to survive the ethiopian turmoil.

I want to see as much pressure on the TPLF junta as possible.
Ethiopia is at breaking point.....it won't take much to push it over the edge.

This situation should inspire the Somali Govt to redouble it's efforts in securing it's sovereignty.
We must be locked and loaded when Ethiopia falls apart. :D :som:

A full scale war between Ethiopia and Egypt would benefit Eritra, Somalia, Sudan even Kenya would benefit from a weaker Ethiopia that is involved in prolonged fight with Egypt.

I am against the destruction of the dam as it will be a step backward for the region. But Nile is the only river Egypt has and it supplies 95% of their water needs. You can see Egyptians will to lengths to secure the Nile. The only blowback Egypt will get is tarnished image on the international arena.

The operation is fairly simple. It doesn't involve land grab, just a quick but powerful sting. Israelis and Turks are experts in this sort of operations. Egyptian Airforce can either use heavy bombs or rely on high speed missiles to deliver an obliterating kinetic charge. Bunker busting bombs would be the most effective in my opinion. Not sure if Egyptians have them. I know Turkey has very powerful bunker busting bombs. They probably are the only ones in the region who produce this sort of bombs themselves. Just one of them can put an end to the Ethiopian grand dam project.

Considering the devilish policies of Ethiopia toward Somali people, I say we should stay neutral and in case of the fall or weakening of Addis Ababa government, take steps to secure Ogaden. Habesha does not deserve Somali sympathy after erasing Somali villages in Ogaden and openly destabilizing Somalia.

Ethiopian foreign policy and the Ogaden War: the shift from “containment” to “destabilization,” 1977–1991
.
According to the Chicago Tribune, "As of 2007, human-rights groups and media reports accuse Ethiopia – a key partner in Washington's battle against terrorism in the volatile Horn of Africa – of burning villages, pushing nomads off their lands and choking off food supplies in a harsh new campaign of collective punishment against a restive ethnic Somali population in the Ogaden, a vast wilderness of rocks and thorns bordering chaotic Somalia".[20] In April 2007, the Ethiopian government imposed a total commercial trade embargo on the war-affected area of Somali Region (the Fiq, Degehabur, Gode, Korahe, and Werder Zones, where the Ogadeni Somali live), prohibiting all commercial truck movement in the region and across the border into Somalia, as well as the free movement of livestock by foot.[21] A tightly restricted and monitor tour by western journalist in the embattled region on the invitation of the regional administration reported on more alleged crimes by the Ethiopian government. A report by a Newsweek reporter detailed how Ethiopian military troops stormed a village southeast of Degahabur, accused the villagers of sympathizing with the ONLF, then razing the village and torturing and murdering many of the inhabitants.[22]

Here is a Turkish bunker busting bomb in action. It starts at 50 second mark:
