34 years ago today on February 10, 1984 Kenyan troops rounded up 5,000 Somalis in the town of Wajir in the occupied Northern Frontier District (NFD) region and took them to the Wagalla Airstrip mercilessly executing them in cold blood.

This massacre of the Somalis in this region comes exactly 11 days after the Borama massacre by Ethiopians. And how did Somalia's President Siad Barre react to the killing of Somalis in a territory he considered occupied and part of Somalia? The same way he reacted to the Borama attacks 11 days earlier. By turning a blind, appeasing the culprits, extending a state visit invitation to Kenya's president and signing a non-aggression treaty.

Fascist Inbred supporters of Siad Barre like to mythologize and romanticize this time period. Peddling historical revisionism with chants of Siad Barre fought for the country and Somalis. But History shows he abandoned Somalis time after time. He abandoned Somalis in Ethiopia after starting a war. He abandoned Reer Borama when Ethiopia attacked and he abandoned Somalis in Kenya.
