A brief look at oromo-somali relations
''The Garre are a mixture of the Oromo and Ogaden Somali groups. Another Somali group called 'Sab' or 'Rahanwin,' who live in Southern Somalia, are also a mixture of Oromo. The Somali in the Ogaden, Juba, and Wabe Shabelle regions have been in close contact with the Oromo for more than 400 years.
The Oromo may have been influenced by the Somali and Afar settlers of the region to embrace Islam. Levine writes: ''Indeed, some of the eastern, Barentu Oromo clans have some acculturated to their Somali neighbors that they have assumed a Somali genealogy and are counted as members of the Ogaden Somali family by the Somali themselves. The Karrayu clan of the Oromo is likewise reported to have adopted many aspects of the culture of their Afar neighbors.''
The Rendille also adopted the Oromo language and culture. They might have come from the east under pressure from Ogadenis into their present habitat. ''In face and habits they resemble the Oromos so closely that it seems impossible to doubt that they are an offshoot of this nation.''
As well, many of the ethnic groups in today's eastern Kenya and Southern Somalia speak and understand the Oromo language. They also have assimilated into Oromo society, accepting their institutions, gadaa government, and religion. It is worthy to note that the Oromos did not conquer these groups, but lived and continue to live with them in harmony, even though there was occasional friction among them. This dynamic shows that the Oromo people are welcoming and on friendly terms with their neighbors, regardless of background. Some of these groups in Kenya are of Bantu Origin, unlike the Cushitic Oromos, but they continued to have good relations. All are human beings, after all.''

just to be clear brother waachis, when the Ogaden is used in this context. its not the Ogaden race/ Absame Kuumade Ogaden ethnic group who make up 92% of Ogadeniya but the other minority ethnic groups who live in the Ogaden territory such as dirs, idoors, akisho, jarso, gadabursi, geri koombe and so on, of all the other Conner tribes /ethnic groups who came and settled with the Ogaden as guests over the centuries through marriage and looking for camel pasture, all minorities are welcome as guests,Waachis wrote: Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:20 pm ''The Garre are a mixture of the Oromo and Ogaden Somali groups. ps: anyone who thinks garre are a mixture of somalis and oromo is wrong, ay that to a garre, he will get upset, there are minorities all over the horn who are neither somali nor oromo by language, example is the garre, various raxanweyn clans who actually speak af maay, and many others we have assimilated one way or another,

OP - Most Oromo are Christian or Pagan.
A few who live around Harar are muslim and a good chunk of those are of Somali origin.
The rest are recently islamised former pagans.
You need to stop lying in order to gain our sympathies.

Re: A brief look at oromo-somali relations
The entire ogaden was inhabited by oromo over 500 years ago before they were pushed out by ogaden Somalis.
Somalis have conquered more land than anyone and have no right to complain about others conquering.
Most oromo are Muslim. About 60 to 65 percent of 50 million oromo are Muslim's
There's more Muslim oromo than the entire Somali population globally.
I am not looking for sympathy or even allies, but sharing history that isn't negative, for once.
Oromo don't look down on anyone, not even the habashi whom we've been competing for land and water with.
The origin of oromo is southern Ethiopia and northern Kenya, kindly refer to professor Mohammed Hassan's book on this for reference, called the oromo and the Christian kingdom.
And when u mention how we assimilated others also mention how many oromo were assimilated into amharas, Somalis, even afar and sidama.
I can keep going on and on...

Re: A brief look at oromo-somali relations
Oromo and Somali are two groups with common origin, if you originated in the south so did we, but Somali is 100% muslim and Oromo is not, this shows us Oromo and Somalis are two brothers who went two different paths and formed different identity through the years.Waachis wrote: Sat Mar 10, 2018 9:09 am The entire ogaden was inhabited by oromo over 500 years ago before they were pushed out by ogaden Somalis.

Later we became powerful while you became slaves to the habasha. We have not conquered land from you, perhaps we have just liberated our Somali lands from oromo who were driven to our land.
history is such a mess when you go back 1000 years back, but rest assured we are related and were at one.
Re: A brief look at oromo-somali relations
Yes brother, include the afars too. we are one. our grandfather was the same man, most likely.
oromo are not 100 percent muslim but are majority muslim and are the largest group of muslims in the horn per ethnicity.
out of 50 million oromo, i'd say 28 to 30 million are muslims. if not more.
who became slaves to habasha? it depends on which clan u are talking about.
yes some oromo clans were enslaved and oppressed. some participated in the conquest and expansion, and were not.
oromo history with ethiopia, unlike the ogadens/ethio-somalis, is not one sided. every oromo clan has a different history with ethiopia.
many oromo conquered other oromos, and other habashas, and never were enslaved.
i told u this already. my clan, for example, the maccaa, muslim and christian mix, were never enslaved.
they paid a yearly tribute of gold, coffee, civet, ivory, etc, to ethiopian empire, and were spared any slavery or conquests or violence.
and somalis did conquer land from us, and we conquered some lands from u, this is life, u lose some, u win some.
but the fact is somalis are among the greatest conquerors ever. they have more land than oromo and habashas.
it was gained through conquest, nothing else. i aint mad at that either, anyone back then would have done the same.
land is life especially when you're a nomad, u need grass, u need water. u stay on the move.

Oromos are native to the horn like everyone else, genetically proven.
Ogaden clan has assimilated many Oromos as well. Don’t be surprised if you ever found out you were actually Oromo dumbass.
The Warday or warra daayu were part of the Orma clan but have been assimilated by your clan.
Yes Oromos have assimilated people but the article waachis has shared is in regards to the people in northern Kenya. The Borans, Ajruun and Garre had a peaceful relationship before your clan decided to move in the area and assimilate and kill people.

Care elaborate this point. I understood it you saying like ; IF oromo expand into the Ogaden any day that's a justifiable reconquest and the Somali shouldn't complain about it.Somalis have conquered more land than anyone and have no right to complain about others conquering.
You're wrong.Oromo Muslims are largest religious category but if the Christians are and waaqists are summed up then ,Muslim Oromo won't be the majority. And by the way, there no clear census on Somali population worldwide .UN estimates on Somali population is always biased because they want Muslim population in the horn to look small. Most oromo are Muslim. About 60 to 65 percent of 50 million oromo are Muslim's

I am not supporting expanding into anyones land, but saying, it's a bit hypocritical when the greatest conquerors say others conquered. that's all.
u cannot brag about something, which is expanding and taking lands, then complain others do it too?!
Oromo Muslims=about 30 million strong, if not more, there is no larger group of muslims in the horn per ethnicity.
somali total population is no way bigger than 30 million. no way sir. if so, prove it, and i am willing to admit if i was wrong.
and muslim oromo don't just live in the east near harar and the somalis.
my clan is mostly muslim and lives in jimma, adoola, etc, southwest and southern ethiopia.
u have muslim oromo who established muslim kingdoms in the north, in wollo, in the very heart of abyssinia.
u have muslim oromo in kenya.

you are a menace, and only ogaden and shewa ahmars understand your true nature, the only two people who ever stood up to yall and stoped your expansions ideology, , foo other somalis with your cushtic fakeness, but not us,
Oromos are native to the horn like everyone else, genetically proven.
The Borans, Ajruun and Garre had a peaceful relationship before your clan decided to move in the area and assimilate and kill people.
your obviously not very intelligent, boran live in marsebit, Ogaden and boran have hundreds of miles between them, Ogaden lives in wajir and garrisa, learn some geography and history please,
garre live in gedo, libaan region of Ogadeniya and the ethipian/kenyan border of mandera,
madera is majority muralle, thus Ogs and garre dont even border each other in kenya or somalia, in libaaan and afhdeer border in DDSI, there is dagodi in between garre and cawlyahan ogaden, thus we dont border each other, thus i dont see how we ever assimilated them, its like a frenchman being accused of asimilating austrians, there are other tribes in bwteeen us,
ajuuran is somali tribe that lives in hiiran, NFD with Ogadens and dagodia and even live in places like bakool, shabeel middel etc, and even galgaduud, all over somali,
no oromo has ever been assimilated into Ogaden, yes we spread islam, but no Ogaden has ever assimilated with oromo, dont confuse us for dirs, i know many groups like akisho, guregure, jaarso etc, one day waa dir, one day waa oromo,
Ogaden doesn't invite foreigners into his group, just because we are laandhers dont be jealous
the oomo bullies dirs, he has assimilated half of them, ths is why he is able to divide and conquer, the very dirs will invite ormo and have dont so in dira daba, they begged them when dirs like cisse and dagbursi bully them, when roomo bullied them, they cry to dirs and claim dir,
the oromo knows how to keep well cear of ogaden lands/ borders, but he knows how to take and dvidie harrais ansd dirs, specially dirs, waa iska maskiin,
in adition, NFD belonged to waboni, kakamba, and samburu, all pagan nigroid tribes, jubbaland belonged to wardey non muslim race mixed in between cushtics and nilothics, we brought islam and these people are the people yuo can say onwed jubbaland,
might is right, the ownerr of a land belongs to muslims who spread islam and conquer,
i am mohamed subeer, the ones who took the must of the fightinng with oromos in ddsi/bale borders,
also, if you read what i said, i said its fake to claim oromo are from madagasc, but regdless we still have to use this and spread this propganada, why? very simple, ahmars do it so oromo doesnt dominate, we do it so oromo doesnt claim east africa, if we entertain the idea the are natives to the horn, they will get arrogant, we do this to proepagte they are foreingers, sure its fake, but propaganda is part of wwar, the oromo will claim Qabri dahar next he will claim cities in somalia proper like hargeysa, thus its in our interest to spread these rumours,
orormos i know tell me somalis came from them, all somali cities belong to them is the next claim, thus the mentality of us being from them is enough to convince them the land was taken from them, qwe will becoem refugees, they are ruthless,
maybe you love oromo becasue you are dir/assimilated dir who has their blood in them, thats fine, shyt happens, but dont tell me have to hold hands with them and sing koombaya, they are ruthless expansionist,
