''The most important of the other races that occupy this portion of Africa is the Oromo. These Oromos have, at different periods, for some 100 years past, seized upon the most fertile provinces of the ancient Empire of Abyssinia, and have spread themselves from the Red Sea and the Blue Nile to the Equator. They are divided into numerous tribes, having the one common trait of being undaunted horsemen. So strong is this propensity, that the tribe of Azebu Oromos, who occupy a land between tigray and the red-sea, purchases horses from the cold provinces of warra-himano and wollo, and mount 10,000 horses, in a district unfavorable to the existence of the animal, and where it is never bred.
Could these (Oromo) tribes, 50 or 60 in number, unite, NOTHING could withstand their numbers and impetuosity, and they would trample under foot, like a Scythian host, all the land as far as Khartoum; but, occupied as they are by intestine wars, there is little probability of such a torrent, unless a Chief should rise among them like Mohammed Gran, that famous warrior, who led the armies of Adal, renowned for strength and swiftness of foot, even to the vicinity of Gondar; and would 350 years ago since, extinguished the Abyssinian name and faith, but for the timely succor of Portuguese skill and valor.''

You can learn about Somalis sure but why are you preaching oromo history to us, we are not oromo and we will never be oromo, and oromo will never be somali.Waachis wrote: Thu Mar 15, 2018 5:11 pmi am sharing with my somali brothers like i do in real life.

i understand ya obbolessa koo [my brother]
i never said somalis were oromo. i said, there's a posible chance u came from us, but i recognize somalis as being their own unique, nation, with their own beautiful culture, language, and so on.
my future wife will be somali most likely from rahanweyn, for example.
her family and my family are good friends, and both muslims, which is all that matters.

waachis ,, are there oromo in the red sea coast we dont know about? does he mean canfaar?
i have a feeling he's referring to the raya azebu oromo who live in tigray, which is the nearest ethiopian region to the red sea, as of now, at least.
there is an oromo village in eritrea too, according to an eritrean friend of mines.
^ they're right here in an Eri-tv special.
