Hargeisa has long history of Chinese and Asian taste. Do you know the first hotel in Hargeisa?FarhanYare wrote: Fri Mar 30, 2018 9:01 am lol@ Chinese restaurant.. Tell me am not seeing photoshop. Who da hell likes chinese food in Hargeysa?
If you didn’t it’s called Oriental Hotel. Not sure exactly when it opened but I saw pictures from 1956.
I am hoping you would know that orient is another term usually used to identify Asia, Asian goods, food, etc.
The Oriental Hotel is heavily Asian influenced from its decor to its food. The Orient is the East, traditionally comprising anything that belongs to the Eastern world, in relation to Europe. In English, it is largely a metonym for, and coterminous with, the continent of Asia, divided into the Far East, Middle East, and Near East.
I tried both their Indian and Chinese menu. Very nice especially the Chinese. I can’t remember the names.
Also Hargeisa was home to Ming Sing restaurant. This restaurant used to supply the Somali Airlines.
After SL returned to peace, I think different owners tried to revive it but didn’t work out.

Re: Hargeisa is becoming more diverse
can anyone just come and do whatever they like?
don't they need a visa? or business certificate, are there any regulations?
do they have to hire locals? or can they bring their cousin from back home.

interesting points, in my of these immigrants countries there are laws set in place to protect the local economy and employment by refusing foreigners to do work that the locals can do themselves.Nomand wrote: Tue Apr 03, 2018 11:20 am can anyone just come and do whatever they like?

I disagree. Somalis by nature are brain dead, no creativity, no vision and boring. These new immigrants are doing what the locals failed to do.Adali wrote: Tue Apr 03, 2018 11:37 pminteresting points, in my of these immigrants countries there are laws set in place to protect the local economy and employment by refusing foreigners to do work that the locals can do themselves.Nomand wrote: Tue Apr 03, 2018 11:20 am can anyone just come and do whatever they like?

Instead of creating a future most Somalis sit idle, chew qaad and steal from the government and yet expect everything from the government.
I hope in the long run the minority immigrants strangle the clannish lazy Somalis and fuck them up in their own country.
The more i age the more I see Somalis as nothing but parasites.
Re: Hargeisa is becoming more diverse
Just look at these new immigrants neon signs? Very classy and compare it to rich millionaire Ina Afdiinle 571 qaad chains, he basically hangs up a ply wood and ask one ciidagale to scribble a name on it using charcoal .

I think we have our priorities messed up, how is it ok to depend on handouts either from relatives or government but working trade jobs is beneath nasab status smh lol, like u said I hope people become rich doing those jobs and the attitude of those lazy leeches changes.

Years ago I was talking to a Hargaysa guy who worked for the city. He was whining about how there is no future in the country. As we were talking he told me he eats daily breakfast from a restaurant. I asked him what was his breakfast, he said liver, Somali pancakes, eggs and some times bean stew and flat bread.
Then it occurred to me how those of us drag our feet to the shower, brave the freezing temperature with a cop of coffee and cigarette for breakfast and work with the envious rednecks, pakies and Philippinos. Just making enough to pay rent and suffer the drudgery of wasted life.
I don't even remember the last time I ate breakfast in a restaurant going to work in the morning, it just doesn't happen in north America. The best of us wake up and hour early just to go through a window of a fast food expensive greasy joint, eat while driving thinking about the stress ahead.
One time a racist son of a whore supervisor told me to use the washroom during my breaks. Told him body unlike you I don't plan my shit.
Its all about greed, these people are relatively poor and happy all equal. Then few rich bastards from the diaspora and single mothers with 9 kids with different dads using their child benefits built mansions, and all of a sudden the entire community felt poor once they compared themselves to these types.

Re: Hargeisa is becoming more diverse
rather have a idle somali parasite than an alien species, I do believe in immigration being a good thing though, it will make Somalis more worldly and think less in terms of clans but in terms of ethnicity which is good for my ideology of ethno-nationalismX.Playa wrote: Wed Apr 04, 2018 12:14 amI disagree. Re: Hargeisa is becoming more diverse
Advo my cousin tried to hire some Rer Dalal to work in his hotel restaurant as cooks and cleaners, they not only refused but threatened his life for apparently insulting them, these same losers depend on remittance and work sparingly doing odd jobs. If my cousin had hired foreigners, they would get jealous and try and get the jobs for themselves, this is why I am pro-immigration aslong as it is controlled and benefits the Somali people.Advo wrote: Wed Apr 04, 2018 1:17 amX.Playa wrote: Wed Apr 04, 2018 12:14 amI disagree.
