Ramadan Helps Me Break My Sugar Obsession

Post by WiredForGood »

That morning coffee(mixed with lots of sugar and milk) and subsequent trips to the Starbucks will stop for 30 days. I also lose weight by 5lbs in each Ramadan. That is the same amount of weight I gain throughout the year.

I think about Ramadan and look forward to its start. I like the discipline it imposes and traveling to the mosque to listen to the Quranic recitation of the young Somali kids leading the prayers.

What are your motivations for Ramadan outside meeting your Islamic requirement of fasting it?

I have a sweet tooth too. I gotta break that habit and also remain active.

A couple years during Ramadan, I lost 15 lbs

It is a bad habit and I don't miss it. Haven't had coffee or tea since Ramadan started.

Days and nights are longer over there for some reason. We fast more than 12 hours here in North America but it is not hard. Weather is nice unlike the tropical/desert heat up in your corner.

Good luck bro.

You too sis. Ramadan Kareem.

I'm cutting coffee too. Try green tea maybe.

Good luck.

I haven't had any caffeinated drink since Ramadan. Strangely, I don't miss the coffee I used to obsess over everyday and spend at least $5 - $15 a day.

The few times I tried to cut back on the consumption weren't successful. I walk through buildings with floor level coffee shops on my way to catch the train, so even if I wanted to skip buying coffee, the sight and the aroma, the people lined up to get their fix were all seduction galore.
