Ethiopian troops move in to Jigjiga following dispute with Somali regional president Ab
Mogadishu (HOL) - The Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) have moved into Jijiga, the capital of the Somali Regional State (SRS) in Ethiopia, and have strategically positioned themselves in key installations after a break down of relations between the Federal Government of Ethiopia and the Somali regional President Abdi Mohamoud Omar (Abdi Iley)‘the one-eyed’. Supporters of Omar, who has led the Somali region since 2005, have reportedly taken to the streets to protest the Federal Ethiopian troops presence while regional officials who spoke via Facebook denounced the move by the military as a “coup”.
Ethiopian troops are said to be in control of the Presidential Palace, House of Parliament, Jigjiga Convention Hall, ministries offices and the TV station.

The move comes against the backdrop of a two-day meeting in Dire Dawa that begun on Thursday by Somali-Ethiopian leaders who oppose the rule of regional President Abdi Mohamoud Omar. After the situation unfolded in Jigjiga, the leaders urged residents to remain calm and to not attack other ethnic groups. The opposition group has announced that they have left Dire Dawa and are en route to Jigjiga.
In a Facebook live address, the Speaker of the Somali regional Parliament Mohamed Rashid Isaq confirmed that ENDF troops have seized key installations in Jigjiga but declined to offer an official response as to why. The troop deployment in Jigjiga cancelled a planned meeting by the regional parliament.
Jigjiga residents who have spoken to HOL have described the situation has extremely tense and have said that there is very little traffic in the city with checkpoints set up throughout. There have been unconfirmed reports of looting in Dhegahbur, Jarar Zone. One resident said that he doesn't know who is in charge of the towns security at the moment.
Regional officials remain mum on the whereabouts of Abdi Mohamoud Omar.

Relations between the Federal Government of Ethiopia and the leaders of the Somali region were said to have reached a flashpoint after reports emerged that attempts to summon regional president Abdi Iley failed. There were reports that Liyu Police moved into Jigjiga ahead of a rumoured vote by the region’s parliament to invoke Article 39 of the Ethiopian constitution which allows the unconditional right to self-determination including the right to secession.
In early July, the Human Rights Watch released a harrowing report that described Prison officials and security forces of arbitrarily detaining and systematically torturing prisoners for years in the notorious Jail Ogaden. Ethiopia’s new Prime Minister denounced the widespread use of torture by state security forces, describing it as a form of terrorism.

As I knew, Abiye is ignoring TPLF completely and focused on Somali region, while his federal troops are arrested in Tigray region, Oromo are low IQ savages doesn't matter if they are muslim or not, Iley is a 1 eyed savage too, if he was president he would probably also be used by the Habesha to invade Oromia, the Habesha are happy now muslims fighting each other.
Its time for Somalis to react, kick out all the Oromo from Somalia. Iley might be our enemy but Habesha wishing to divert attention from themselves and savage Oromo paramilitary is a dangerous mix, we need emergency reaction and unity among Somalis, we can deal with our differences later after we have squashed the enemy.

Abdi illeys forces tried to kill Somali elders who were on their way to a meeting of somalis in dire dawa. This led to a state of emergency being declared in the region. So the army and local police were called in. Abdi brought this on himself. He thought he could kill kill and kill without being punished.dalalos101 wrote: Sat Aug 04, 2018 8:29 am As I knew, Abiye is ignoring TPLF completely and focused on Somali region, while his federal troops are arrested in Tigray region, Oromo are low IQ savages doesn't matter if they are muslim or not, Iley is a 1 eyed savage too, if he was president he would probably also be used by the Habesha to invade Oromia, the Habesha are happy now muslims fighting each other.

Abiy gave the Somalis a chance to protest and depose Ileey yet besides the Issa none did. He waited for Ileey to resign and leave the country he didn’t.
Ileey is a scoundrel who deserves no support. He and his liyuu thugs should be hung. The golden opportunity is to pin it all on Ileey and for the Somalis to unite and form a strong regional administration.
Ileey is yesterday’s news. Seize the moment

Who are the Somalis being attacked. Illey is a tigray agent that needs to be dealt with. The problem is ogaden who are not from jigjiga think they can decide who’s somali and who’s not and kick out the indigenous jaarso and akisho from their land and property. You cannot tell me a jarso from jigjiga is not somali when he’s speaking the original perfect somali and is from the original somali tribe of dir but Geri koombe and jidwaaq are somali. This makes no sense. Let’s hope an isaaq isn’t named president of ddsi again it would really send these lot over the edge.

if attacking abdi illey=attacking somalis, in your demented and twisted mind, sure.original dervish wrote: Sat Aug 04, 2018 9:45 am Just as I predicted.....Oromo teaming up with their Amhara masters to attack Somali's.![]()
abdi brought this on himself as i said before-especially when he tried to kill the 200 somali elders who were in route to dire dawa.
he is the one who made dire dawa declare a state of emergency-a somali mayor of dire dawa had to do this, but i'm sure u will blame oromos for that too.
