Haftar is backed by the UAE who have set up a military base in the country which is illegal due to the arms embargo on Libya. This is very similar with UAEs appoach in Berbera. Will trump back Somaliland?

Trump will not back Somaliland. His government is extremely close to Farmaajo a man who is also a member of the Republican Party and also from New York like Trump. Roger Stone Trumps best friend is linked to Farmaajo and his NY republican allies.

So why are they sending aid to maamul gobaleeds. UAE is a American proxy when it comes to their foreign affairs. Farmajo is also close with turkey which trump hates. At the end of the day dollars and geopolitics makes sense. Somaliland just needs to make itself more important on the geopolitical stage than Somalia which it is doing now with becoming a regional hub. Ethiopia is important to the world so if they come to rely on Somaliland ports the west will do whatever it can to keep these trade routes open. There will be no doubt the Americans will also be using the uae military base aswell. Whether we leave or join somalia we just need to make ourself the most economically militarily and geopolitical important region.
