Re: Opposition conference in Xamar
holding conferences is a good thing, hopefully they will allow the press to ask them questions.
i want to know what policies they will implement on tax reforms or fighting shabaab. i want substance, i want to know what there plan is for the country in the next 5 years both economically and militarily. I want to know why they oppose the farmaajo government what what they could add to make it better and how they will differ and be better then the current government.

Bro the ICU days were a long time ago bro, and people forgot about the whole good ‘ol boy simple wadaad who fought warlords. When I say support what I meant is majority of people who are like ‘sign me up for a repeat of Sh Shariif’.
Secondly, Xamar although the Capital does not equal Somalia. Its 4.5, and Xamar popularity assuming he even has it will not be enough. Now I’m not saying Farmaajo has a great shot either. Somalia is not where people thought it would be 3 years ago. Whether you want to chalk it up to underperformance or expectations that were just not realistic that can be debated.

Murax,
I am definitely not in a position to remark on what the locals in Somalia feel, but I literally still find both Shaikh Sharif and Hassan Sheekh to be two guys I still like on a personal basis.
For some reason, both of them especially Hassan Sheekh I have always looked at them as non-politicians but guys who rose from civil society to find themselves where they are.
I do not second guess why the gov did what it did vis-a-vis the airport in Kismaayo shutdown but if I were Farmaajo I would have given a public apology as a form of "xurmad."
I have it on really good authority that Hassan Sheekh has always been pro-Mareexaan and still is. In fact I laughed when you wrote twice before the MX cannot even enter Farmaajo's door lol.
One of my mom's cousins who has been a government "worker" since Cabdullahi Yuusuf (shaxaad positions lol) was talking to my mom recently and was like "war balaayada yaa na dhaafiyo" with balaayada = Farmaajo lol. He said "Naa Hawiyahi baa naloo qaatay almiino wax ayaanba ka heli jirnay. Kan waxaad moodaa in Mareexaan lagu diray."

With me Culusow, is 100x more respectable than Shariif. He is the first that actually introduced party politics to Somalia. Dam Jadiid as annoying as it was, was not based on clan. Like you mentioned he was homegrown from the civil society. The maritime case he took to the courts.
I’m just disappointed with him on two levels where he showed lack of principle for kursi raadis:
A) He tried to reign in the regional admins in the beginning, theb failed. When Farmaajo did, he criticized him instead of commending him.
B) He got in bed with the same shady characters who are responsible for the whole maritime fiasco i.e Cabdishakur, ducaale etc
Shariif,
Not going to waste too much time even discussing. He is simply out of his depth doing anything related to Dawlad.

Sheikh Shariif is very popular. He has the support of Shacab and military/police. Did you know gov planned to sabotage the conference by closing the roads leading to Sahal hall? It failed because not a single Sarkaal and ciidan was up for the job.Murax wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2019 11:33 am Btw this opposition really, really messed up making the faces of the opposition Culusow, Shariif. This is also the reason why Farmaajo is currently planning building a new Ciidan in NISA department, who is mostly Raxanweyn who will be loyal to him only. They will be sent to Eritrea and Qatar for training.. Even Sheikh Shariif talked about it today in the conference.
There are also rumours i heard about Farmaajo relocating to Baydhabo. But i haven't verified this yet.
Farmaajo biggest misstake was alienating Sheikh Shariif. As he still got a huge support base within the shacab and military/Police.

Is just a conference abaayo dont get worked up .this is the beauty of democracy .Voltage wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2019 8:56 am I am starting to think the adage the more successful you are the more they are against you must be true.
Look.at these losers still acting like civil war factions THE SAME WEEK the World Bank officially opened an office in Somalia literally calling this government's fiscal achievements a "miracle." It's also the same week the head of the IMF officially signaled her support for Somalia debt forgiveness citing the "extraordinary" progress of this country.

The opposition is united only in opposing Farmaajo, they have no legitimate plans to further develop the country. When the head of this party is Shiekh Sharif who came up as an ICU leader and was a former Quranic School teacher than honestly I don't think he has much of a chance of winning especially as the maritime dispute that he was responsible for is still ongoing. As for what the opposition thinks of Farmaajo it's based mainly on qabyaalad. Even though he's distanced himself from MX for the most part the opposition "aqoonyahans" make this comparison on a daily basis, what a joke kkkk

Re: Opposition conference in Xamar
Murax,
Like you I think Sheekh Sharif needs to go.
Like I genuinely like the guy, but seriously man? What is he trying to come back to? Sheekh Sharif got lucky once.
The international community decided Somalia needed a unity government between the armed ICU and the TFG. Sh Sharif literally skated in as the head of the ICU WHO WAS MADE THE FACE OF THE ICU because the real head Dahir Aweys was sensitive to HG-Abgaal issues manifesting in Xamar AT THAT TIME.
I absolutely love Sh Sharif personality/dhaqan/character, etc. But I have seen nothing redeeming about his political/leadership skills.
In fact the biggest problem with Farmaajo is his CONFIDENCE bordering on arrogance.
The biggest problem with Sheekh Sharif was his extreme LACK OF CONFIDENCE bordering on being a push over.
Faroole speaks. Hoo qaado. Mahiga speaks. Hoo qaado. Shariif Sakiin speaks. Hoo qaado.
That's not masalaxd, that's lack of leadership.
If your mom lets you get ice cream because you have been a good boy. She's a great mom.
If she gets you ice cream every time you kick, scream, and whine. She has no parenting skills and she's raising a brat.
As for Hassan Sh. For some reason I have always liked and respected Gurguurte. The Dam Jadeed thing I actually thought was a positive development as a form of koooxaysi not based on tribalism. They just acted stupid about it. In hindsight why didn't they just name a a Dam Jadeed as PM?
Like Sheekh Sharif they were very insecure.
Look at Farmaajo, dude comes in and presiding wisdom is to have Abgaal PM and at least Hiraab...says fock it, let them kick rocks and he names who he wants and sets up his own party/affiliates as government.
Horta this concept of UNITY government they shove down the 3rd world I don't agree with it. It's gridlock. Can you imagine the US with a Republican President being forced to pick a Democratic VP? It's a recipe for disaster.
If your group gets the president, get your team and at least save us years of bickering.
As for the questions you posed about why Gurguurte is being like this Farmaajo especially on issues that gave him a nightmare as President?
I don't know why he is being hypocritical.
My theory is LACK OF CONFIDENCE.
It's the only way he can find a place in the childish opposition.
You have to understand the very basic foundation of the opposition is the petty Abdirahman Abdishakuur and his party.
They're like mean girls. You know they think about Hassan Sheekh sitting with them..."na'a you gotta talk shit about him first or no seat for you"
