US tells President Farmaajo to end the SNA offensive in Gedo

Post by Sagaashan »

In what appears to be a BIG win for Ahmed Madoobe, the UN's James Swan (and the US UN Mission) criticize SNA operations overall, and specifically recent Gedo offensive:

1- Despite many shows of strength and military training and hardware, the SNA is still weak and vulnerable, making Alshabaab more emboldened and stronger:

"Despite efforts by the SNA, AMISOM and international partners, regrettably Al Shabaab retains the ability to conduct large scale attacks in Mogadishu, including against the UN and the international community, and in the recently recovered areas in Lower Shabelle. It is also able generate significant revenue through extortion, as well as to conduct operations beyond Somalia’s borders."

2. Because of this Amisom is basically "essential to security under current circumstances"

3. In another embarrassment to the FGS and win for Ahmed Madoobe, the hastily arranged and deployment of SNA to Gedo, is basically in a veiled and diplomatic parlance seen at best personal political scoring between two equals or worst tribal

"We note recent security deployments in Jubaland’s Gedo region have led instead to increased tension."

4. The US UN mission put it succinctly, without a shadow of doubt, and probably one that is strengthened by the presence of Yamamoto back in the US:

"The deployment of SNA troops to a politically motivated offensive in the Gedo region of Jubaland is unacceptable and diverts resources from the agreed roadmap for security operations. It is imperative that Federal Government and Federal Members States security services focus on combatting al-Shabaab, rather than engaging in armed conflict with each other to resolve political disputes. We call on President Farmaajo to end the Somali National Army offensive in Gedo, and for President Farmaajo and Jubaland President Madobe to each commit to dialogue and reconciliation."

To be honest, for what ever reason, this Ahmed Madoobe thing looks more like a big plot against the state. He serves a bigger purposes for a bigger cause, protected, nurtured, lobbied for by Kenya and supposedly supported by the US and UAE. American politics is really run by money and lobbying, and at this juncture, for whatever reason Ahmed Madoobe has more lobby money on his side than the FGS and its friends could muster.

For this reason, anytime wasted on battling this guy is wasted resource and a losing cause. Especially during this time of the year. As Sahal mentioned many times, the time to take effective action against Madoobe is well past its prime.

I tip my hat to the GOAT of traitors, Ahmed Madoobe :stylin:

You know its damn impossible to hold Jubaland elections this year when you have general elections are coming up. Give the traitor a credit, he won on the back of poor Somalis and sucking up to the lowly Kenyans. This was pretty much a lobbying campaigned waged in Nairobi, Dubai, and Washington.

Whether you like it or not, FGS has hard decisions to make. Its in a good place right now. It pretty much controls Gedo and that alone gives it a great leverage. I would have them figure some sort an interim agreement with Madoobe that allows FGS to pick half of the next cabinet and take over the airport and port. Once the elections are over, if N&N returns then Madoobe will happily disappear.

Madobe is a pawn. You are not paying attention to the geopolitics. Like you said yourself. Bigger game. I'll leave it there.

There is no offensive in Gedo, and the government can station SNA troops anywhere. Infact a lot of what was said was a warning to Madoobe.

the USA saying AMISOM won'st stay forever is a direct warning to Madoobe ( You must make peace with the government and compromise)

the USA saying the SNA must replace all AMISOM forward facing bases is again a direct warning to Madoobe.

The USA is indirectly saying only the SNA must be only armed force inside Somalia

You can’t blame the OP, we’ve been conditioned to this type of thinking. A president ordering troops to a region within his country ‘Offensive’

Farmaajos the President, Gedo is part of Somalia. If you dislike that wait until 2021, but for now he can deploy SNA troops where he pleases. I’m glad we finally have a president post MSB AUN that can deploy troops to our border where my relatives live :blessed:

Anybody with a brain could see Farmaajo is acting more like a tribal warlord than a president.

Now the Americans have pulled the rug from under Farmajo.

A tremendous day for all J/L people who want to see peace and development.

They are going crazy about the statement of some US diplomat in the UN. power talks in somalia, gedo and middle jubba will come under the SNA, there is nothing they can do about it. infact a few days ago the government said that a brigade will will present on beledxaawo that is 2000 to 5000 soldiers.

ahmed madoobe today is in dhoobley he flew from kismaayo to dhobley could not even drive there, he tried to sent his army by foot but they got massacred by al shabaab.

while SNA can drive from dolow to ceelwaaq 120 miles

kismaayo to dhobley 120 miles.
