I love how people are so obsessed with Marehan, they are missing the point.

Forget Marehan, there are more Dir on that list than Darod.

The biggest take away is the theft was never Darod vs. Others.

The theft is very clearly Hawiye to Digil & Mirifle.

By the way no one has ever said Darod or Marehan were ever majority or the most sizable presence of Benadir.

If we don't say that even under the Kacaan, what makes you think we would any other time?

However the Marehan on the Council does represent that Marehan have always had a presence especially in the city center and the elite/influencers.

Also knowing Somalis, I am not saying Marehan is elite to anyone; I am saying Benador was not the degaan of Marehan, so the only Marehan that would be there isn't our average joe, but the person who had DAN/INTEREST there so intellectuals/ilbax, etc

Whereas for example, Abgaal may be miscounted in the "city" when really Abgaal was based from Casa Populare (originally the shantytown housing the workers from neighboring clans) to Warsheikh to the northern beach.

So of course Abgal was very sizable in periphery of Mogadishu as a clan.

Whereas the Marehan seat there is important to represent the reer Aw-Maxamuuds, the reer Farmaajo, the Haji Xaashi, the reer Abdulle Hassans, the reer Jaamac Juges, the reer Xaashi Xaashi Daroods, the reer Biixi Ilaawes, etc.

The Marehan families whose sons ended up writing the Somali language, taking over Isbitaal Martiino, printing the first magazines, in 1960. etc.

Lol are you telling me Abgaals came to Muqdisho with casa popolare? Casa popolare a housing project iniated by UN and NHA(national housing agency) an instution founded by Aden Cadde. Wich built 55 apartments at what is today Central Muqdisho. A project iniated in early 60s.

From 1962, the United Nations has financed a pilot project for the construction of cheap housing (guriyaha giimaha jaban), at a total cost of US$120,000, co-financed by the Somali government. In 1965 the National Housing Agency (NHA) was created, and a compound of 55 apartment buildings of cheap dwellings (Case Popolari) was constructed west of Muqdisho, between 1965 and 1972. One project of ‘urbanized plots’ was also realized when the NHA parcelled out and equipped 215 plots, selling them for a ‘political price’ of about US$1 per square metre.
Linking Abgaal arrival to Muqdisho to casa popolare is new mental gymnastics wlh. The housing project was iniated to accommodate the influx of people from Banaadir region mainly Abgaal(mainly Agoonyar, Kabaale, Dauud and Warsangeli), Biimaal and Begedi(Digil).
Haba ka hadlin Galmaax Wacbuudhan whomes ancestral land 90% of todays Muqdisho is built on.

As what comes to elite base iyo other xaar you spewd, wlh one small sub clan of Suul Harti called Cabdalla Caroone had more clout in Muqdisho than Mareexaan. Let alone Abgaal as a clan in 1960s. The first certified Somali eye surgeon, at Martini and later on at Digfer Hospital Cali Cabdulle Macallin (Cabdalle Caroone), The guy who wrote the first Somali constitution and one of the very first Somali with a degree in Law. Maxamed Sheikh Gabyow(married to educated Gaaljecel lady) also Cabdalle Caroone. The first Somali director of degadda Muqdisho(forgot his name) was also Cabdalla Caroone married to Eybekergaab(Waceysle) ditoresa who was for over a decade the head of vaccination programs in Somalia. I'd post pictures of all of them but just don't know how on this site.

The funny thing is it's Daaroods who came to Muqdisho as refugees who made illegal aqal soomaliyyed shanti towns on the outskirt of Muqdisho after abaaraha fomr early seventies to late 80s.
1968 the population had doubled to 204,000 and it reached 255,000 by 1970. From then on, natural disasters, wars and lack of planning have driven ever larger groups of families with no resources whatsoever into ‘parasitic’ immigration. The annual rate of population growth in the outskirts of Mogadishu is over 10%, with accompanying problems of congestion, lack of services and lack of hygiene. One of the first problems facing the revolutionary government installed at the end of 1969 was ensuring the orderly planned development of the capital. In 1970, the area occupied by permanent and temporary buildings, legal and illegal, was about 1,500 hectares. We can estimate that this is now in the region of 7,000 to 8,000. However, it is impossible to carry out a census of the nomadic families which are continually arriving and settling at the extreme edge in their traditional huts, known as aqal. According to the 1970 census, there were about 10,000 permanent masonry dwellings in Muqdisho, inhabited by 74,000 persons, and almost 20,000 temporary dwellings (including the shanties, but not the nomadic aqal), inhabited by 149,000 persons.
I'm from a family that is 6th generation reer Muqdisho. My immediate family use to give these Daarood refugees, food and clothing wlh some of my family even donated few goofs to them out of Islaannimo. And today the chlidren of the guys who grew up wearing my parents, uncles and aunties old clothes want to tell me the history of my people in my city.
:damn:

And mudane stop projecting your gariir towards D&M as Mudulood we share dhaqan and history with Digil whome we have been marrying into and from for over 400 years. And as Hawiye(Silcis,Hintire, Ajuuraan, Wadala'an etc.) Share a history close to 700 years with Digil so stop projecting. Its not us who squat on Mirifle land today its you squatter jeberties in Gedo and Jubbooyinka and its you who are going to suffer the slow death you so fondly speak of.

Bravo. You said all I wanted to say and more rageedi. Kpp kulaha i laughed especially being Reer mataan whose family owned goofaf in Wardhiigley n boondheere. The hillarious thing is Barkaanle Duuliye Mataan is buried near the old parliament. You have the reer Isloow imam family whose hq was Shangaani.

The first certified Somali eye surgeon, at Martini and later on at Digfer Hospital Cali Cabdulle Macallin (Cabdalle Caroone), The guy who wrote the first Somali constitution and one of the very first Somali with a degree in Law. The first Somali director of degadda Muqdisho(forgot his name) was also Cabdalla Caroone married to Eybekergaab(Waceysle) ditoresa who was for over a decade the head of vaccination programs in Somalia.

I’ve said it before he wants to turn raxanweyn attention away from gedo. Every single degmo in gedo is disputed. There is a long night in hell coming for marexaan.
Gedo is ours sxb. Why you obsessed with degaans that aren't yours? Worry about Somaliland. Jubbaland rag ba leh. Laangaab ba tahay.
