Bro look at the map and look at how big Gedo is. From Doolow the Eitho border to Faafaxdhuun there are wilderness terrain they can hide in. Puntland never experienced the civil war, has been a State since 1998 and you have Al Shaydaan, balaayo who are in the villages, and staging attacks. There is not 1 Al Shaydaan person that can present themselves in any of the Degmos in Gedo.

Al Shaydaan will never be 100% defeated until the day Government institutions, services function to the point where nobody sees a use in taking the Emiraati, Sucuudi money.

Bravo Murax! Gedo like you said is huge and the govt only controls the major settlements because of AMISOM. Until there is a cohesive national strategy and unity to combat AS instead of internal squabbles, they will rule the country and the cities at night

Fyi there is no official AMISOM in Gedo. Gedo was supposed to be part of Kenya’s AMISOM sector but they left, And N&N deployed heavy SNA troops to the border. Ethiopian troops though have entered intended for Jubbada Dhexe. But Yup Al Shaydaan are all over Somalia. Gedo, Baay, Bakool, Shabeelaha, Hiiraan they hide in the countryside, in Xamar people are not paying Al Shaydaan taxes for nothing. I once asked what’s the safest hotel of I want to visit Xamar? The ones Al Shaydaan owns.

Say Trump cuts the funding for AMISOM and they leave how long do you think that the FG and FMS can last?

Realistically 6 weeks. That’s the modest estimate but I wouldn’t rule out 72 hours. To be fair though if the West, Gulf Countries, shady interest groups, clandestine support were not funding, proppong them up I don’t think they would be a factor either.

Horta mar mar waan kula yaaba.

Do you even know the reality of AMISOM, do you really think they fend off Al Shabaab from recapturing all the regions/districts they have lost. Maskiin baa tahay wallahi. AMISOM do nothing in Somalia. Its our own soldiers that keep Al shabab far away. Thats the reality and if AMISOM leave 2morrow....I can say wallahi Al shabaab not only will they struggle to recapture lost district but they will lose the little land they control.

AMISOM are here not to work but to leach from IC money. The sooner they leave the better for Somalia. God riddance.

I hope Farmaajo sticks to his promise and removes them by 2021, or at least signficantly downgrade them.

XimaanJaale,

I am very well aware AMISOM for the past few years have been in their bunkers, Jaale Siyaad base, Xalane, etc. not on the frontlines, while the SNA are the ones who fight and die. AMISOM casualties are like 2 per year, while SNA is up there, that tells you something. Still I will still bet 100x on Al Shaydaan capturing Somalia in the event everybody leaves. As evil, devilish as they are I have to admit they have exhibited more command and control, unity amongst their ranks, common purpose than any Somalis institutions that have come. You're being delusional if you don't give Shaydaan credit for that much.

That said at least N&N now has been able to seize the role of the Federal Government while having a working relationship with most FMS i.e (Galmudug, HiirShabeele, KoonfurGalbeed) who understand their respective roles and do not attempt to intrude in Federal Government matters. This will go a long way to creating a viable state that can guarantee security. That is progress but there is still work to be done! If you always believe your job is done, you'll never get anywhere.

I dont understand when people glorify the statement that Al shabaab exhibit command and control and unity within their own ranks.

Come off the drugs sxb, Al shabaab are no different to any Somali entity. Their leaders fight each other, they have clashes, they have disunity. If anything more Al Shabaab figures are killed or jailed within themselves than the government has ever done to them. One of the reasons Al shabaab has lost power (they controlled 95% of South Central in 2006-2010) and now they control a mere 20%. Not only in that 85% of the Somali population live in under govt controlled areas. Dont come praise al Shabaab for me bro. I aint gonna give credit to Al Shabaab for nothing.

This narrative that the govt has poor command and control needs to end mate. Its 2020, stop repeating the same bulshit from yearsago. Somalia has changed and you need to accept this. It aint perfect, but it is going in the right direction. I never said the job is done, its far from done. But we should stop playing old narratives. How we ever gonna have a strong government when the only thing we do is critise it. I used to say this way before Farmaajo came into power and I will continue to say this. Always side with the govt even if you dont like the leader. But Somalis have IQ of below 68, they dont think of the bigger picture or long term.

Somalia should be made up 13 regions and 6 states. Merge Lower Juba and Middle Juba to make one Juba and also split Mudug into two regions but keep the rest. The following six states should be PL, GM, HS, KG (Bay and Bakool only) JL and a state made up of Banadir and Lower Shabelle only. 9 upper house seats for each of those six states mentioned
