This didn't age well.

:smugruss: :MJ:
Xaarmaajo is doing his all to get us within his fold by sneding suicide bombers and assassins to bosaso but look how thats working out :wow:

Answer me this can that braindead boon walk in his hometown gedo without security? No but mudane deni can walk in any mj city no security and do whatever he wants

A word of advice worry about the hutus that are about to kick you out galnus instead of calacaaling about mj who you don't even border :pacspit:

You will bend the knee. Through crook or hook. My boys in Galnus are holding their own. I can walk in Gedo fine. I'm not the one getting bombed daily.

Kiss the ring peasant.

Voltage wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2017 8:15 pm It's actually kind of interesting.

Somalia has had "presidents" since 2000.

Abdiqasim, Abdullahi Yusuf, Sheikh Sharif, Hassan Sheikh

Habar Gidir, Majerten, Abgal

There was really nothing TRANSFORMATIVE about their elections or tenure.

Hassan Sheikh was elected. Others were elected

People just said ok and went back to life. There was nothing transformative.

Marehan guy gets elected and the entire history of Somalia is rehashed. The civil war is rehashed. Nature of government is debated. Waves on the ocean rock.

When I look at it, Somalia needed a Marehan to become President if it needed to be honest about moving forward.

Farmaajo's election had brought out the pain, the hurt, the joy, and prospects for the future.

Everywhere on youtube people are debating the nature of Marehan as president, the Kacaan, the civil war.

No one debated anywhere the nature of Abgaal being president. There was no widespread discourse surrounding it.

It tells me that Marehan are central to Somalia's fall and are central to Somalia's rise again.

Emotionally disturbed people's route back to good health is going back to the root causes.

This is Somalia's route back to the causes it seems and the sensitivity surrounding it is proof enough.
4 years later and the observation was prescient.

Somali government is no longer an idea; it is a real thing today.

I think that MX and Hiraab have the same interests in that they benefit from a strong central government and they accept Mogadishu to be the capital city and seat of government. A MX as president garners support from all Darod except Mahamud Saleban and Ogaden

You're mistaken. Somalia's politics isn't monolithic, long-held observations are no longer valid (it never were), and clan alliances/rivalry are transitory.

Big Break, you are always an extreme.

Ever noticed that as clear as I am about disagreement with the Puntland leadership's politics, I never ever let it get to identifying the "people" (aka MJ or even Mohamud Saleban) for me?

I am also probably the only person who is not Abdirahman Abdishakuur's die hard supporter who has defensed his RIGHT to dissent---that criticism is not illegitimate as a concept---although certainly I have exercised my right to dissent towards some of his questionable choices for expressing dissent.

Basically, MJ and Cumar are not represented by individual Somali politician and even seemingly legitimate local entities because no one has polled what they want or ever brought forth evidence of representing their choices. Beyond that the Somali tribal system. Is notorious for "bwana every man His Sultan."

No one represents "clans" because not even the UGAAS/SULTAN represents the "clanmember."

  1. Address the Past
    1. First real discussion about equities
    2. Closed the last chapter on the legacy of Somalia's 90's rebellions
    3. With confidence and pride hung the emblems of Somali Statehood up again considered taboo since 1991
    4. First real activation of Somalia's denied stakeholders (youth, civil servants, the poor, IDP's, technocrat)
    5. Dare I say destroy the ENTIRE NARRATIVE born of the civil war by even doing something innocuous as Dhagax Tuur, Hawa taako, Sayid, rtc.
    6. etc etc etc

  2. Take us Forward
    1. First real progress in state sovereignty
    2. First real investment in a national army
    3. First real show of state monopoly of force (Abdiraham Abdishalu, Abu Mansuur, Ahlu Sunnah, Jubbaland, heck even your own tribal militias in Lamagalaay)
    4. Everything from our post code to air space control to Shipping code to internet domain, etc
    5. So many of our regulatory underpinning
    6. The entire financial system
    7. Debt Relieve
    8. Forget reduction but ELIMINATION of bureaucratic corruption by instituting biometric payment...no one even touches the soldier's money in cash, direct transfer to his account
    9. Etc etc etc
