A remarkable thing happened yesterday in Galmudug w/ lesson: Marehan brought Galmudug to a standstill then compelled it.

Post by Gubbet »

The lesson says it is time for an actual formula that is legally defining and that controls how a decision is made which can then hold accountable everyone; the one making the decision as well as those disagreeing with it.

  • So yesterday, Galmudug put out a list containing participation in a "Galmudug Regional Cup" soccer/football tournament;
    • Image
Immediately, Marehan cried foul because the list did not contain the district of "Dhabad" while, as they argued, it contained places like "Wisil" and "Baxdo." Here is a prior comparison I made using "Dhabad" when Galmudug named it a "degmo" at the same time as...."Af Barwaaqo";
Gubbet wrote: Wed Oct 12, 2022 7:54 am And the story is one of contrast.
  1. Dhabad is in Western Galmudug, and although for some reason always considered part of the Caabudwaaq District in Galgaduud, it is really in southwestern Gaalkacyo district and part of Mudug region.
    • It is settled exclusively by Marehan/Wagardha especially Rer Wardheere
  2. Af-Barwaaqo is in Eastern Galmudug, part of the Hobyo District and specifically the northern part of the Hobyo district considered southeastern Mudug.
    • It is claimed vehemently by Habar Gidir/Sacad especially Rer Nimcaale although the district would seem diverse considering there is a land dispute there between Sacad, Majerten, Sheekhaal, and Dir.
Galmudug named Dhabad and Af-Barwaaqo as "degmo" in one of their recent declarations.

Except this is Af Barwaaqo in comparison to Dhabad

As soon as the list of participating locations was printed, Marehan Galmudug public backlash was swift, a boycott was called for, players from Caabudwaaq and Balanbale districts, who WERE included in the list, announced they would not play and social media and discussion spaces concerning Galmudug were overtaken by talk of "Marehan-exit" which is probably the most acutely sensitive political vulnerability Galmudug faces.

  • By mid-day, Galmudug had retracted the prior published list and put out a new one;
    • Image
The difference between the two lists is shown here;

  • Difference between the old and new published list
    • Image
  1. Dhabad was included in participants, but the list was now 14 participating locations from the 10 in the first list so 3 other locations had been included besides Dhabad.
  2. Perhaps mindful that the Marehan backlash was both about Dhabad's exclusion as well as "parity" ("power sharing") which was not addressed by including 3 additional Hawiye locations with Dhabad, the "location" of the matches had been changed from Cadaado to "Caabudwaaq."
  3. The new list was signed by the incoming chairman of Galmudug soccer/football association who had not even taken the role officially yet rather than the incumbent who signed the first list.
  4. Finally, the new list stipulated the authority who made this decision consulted with roles whose occupants are from more diverse clan backgrounds like Marehan and Dir, as opposed to the first list which mentioned the sports ministry in two different bullet points, positions occupied by only the Hawiye clan.
  5. The new list addresses Caabudwaaq District, the new location of matches as opposed to Cadaado, the previous location.

Now here is why I brought this issue up;

The issue itself is subjective to me and whatever the changes are is really irrelevant to me as they made those decisions, but my issue here is the legally implicated vulnerability displayed by Galmudug in this circumstance that points to "instability" or being structurally unrooted.

Is Galmudug going to base everything on "whinging" it/going with the flow?

If that is the case, then "Marehan-exit" is as possible tomorrow as today and clearly inevitable like "Dhulbahante-exit" from Somaliland.

Or is Galmudug going to sit down and maturely reach a consensus on "powersharing" that is agreed to once with full confidence from its membership that then guides and controls how such decisions like the above are even made in the first place?

It is time for an actual formula that is legally defined that controls how a decision is made and can hold accountable both the authorities and the membership.

For example, that Marehan can say "hey, this decision does not meet the standard of thr formula agreed to" or the authorities who made the decision can respond with if they did "Yes, it does; the formula agreed to says such and such.."

What happened in this circumstance is "reactionary" or rather just responding to problems as they pop up.

It is time to get a head of the problem.

It is time to come up with a legally defined formula with consensus and confidence from all stakeholders that can then be the arbiter.

Otherwise, let's continue the 'shimbirayahoow heesa.'

So that's why the list was changed the same day it was first put out with updates I pointed out?

I despise anti-intellectualism and that seems to be your engagement of this topic or rather because of... grievance from the Hawiye side at what they see as 'capitulation' to Marehan?

You are Somali instability in a nutshell.

Why are we part of Somalia when we don't see Xamar as our capital?

Such is life, but if this keeps going like this, dan bey Galmudug u burburi.

So let me get this straight, marexaan screams for Dhabad to be included, and than HGs add Dhabad along with 3 extra HG deegaans into that updated lists, and you still call it an win for marexaan?

HG have like 9 Deegaans participating in Galmudugs football tournament while Mx has 3, and you are here bragging about bringing Galmudug into an standstill.

Galmudug is an HG state first and foremost, we will eat the cake first and you will eat our leftover crumbs, that's the powerstructure in Galmudug.

Nobody cares what they added, the list was updated because of Marehan and Dhabad.

Dhabad was included and the location of the matches was changed to Caabudwaaq which is the local deegaan which actually profits economically from hosting it.

Since you clearly arw invested in lowest common denominator nonsense clearly ignoring the purpose of the topic, WELL HOW ABOUT THAT.

Your "HG" state is bent at the waist bowing to Marehan!

I told you marexaan are looma-oyaan in Galmudug, as if HGs were going to give mx anything in their state Galmudug.

Galmudug state only functions to serve HGs interests.

Even our loyal puppet VP Cali Ciid is there :lol:
