The geopolitics of the region is changing rapidly.
International recognition is now a real possibility.
Once the hagite regime challenges the legality of the Mou......it will draw out the western nations whom support it. The UK/ US will most likely support the Mou. The EU, at Italy's behest, will probably oppose it. So will Egypt and the Arab league .
The one to watch is Israel. They have extremely close security ties to Ethiopia, and will mo doubt be present if Ethiopia builds its naval base. The Houthi blockade of Israeli shipping has clearly demonstrated that Israel needs a permanent base in the red sea region.
By hiding behind Ethiopia......Israel can get its undeclared base.
This is going to get interesting folks.

It looks like things are moving towards international recognition.
It won't be instantly......more than likely a phased approach. First autonomy......then an independence referendum....and so on and so forth.
Dhulbahante can easily be the fly in the ointment if they allow themselves to be used by opponents to the Mou.
I will say here and now that I would support Dhulbahante to secede from Somalia under certain conditions that I will elaborate on in later threads.
Essentially, we would demand a new confederational constitution guaranteeing that present day Khaatumo keeps it autonomous status, as well as quotas on everything from civil service jobs, ministerial positions, budgetary expenditure etc.
I think we could easily do a deal that will benefit all Northern people's.

i also urge Khatumo to be a special status with in Somaliland to have their own Parliament and their security forces and this should be enshrined in the constiution and equal share of the wealth of the country.

It will take time, but I believe the more rational and educated people will accept.
Once Dhulbahante realise that Somalia is never coming back, they will explore other options.
