Somalia new constitution

Post by nextplaya »

In summary, the next president of Somalia becomes the law, judge, legislator, and law enforcer

The 3 changes are

1. unitary executive presidency with a figurehead vp

2. 2 party system

3. more representation given to Benadir both formally in the constiution, and informally later on by adding or moving seats to Xamar.

The east Sool seats will also be moved to Xamar after the constitution is changed as Firdhiye also wants Dhulbahante seats to be seperated from the Magertein state. A big win for Culusow. He is gonna hand pick the Dhulbahante seats as well as the rest of Somaliland representatives in the bunker administration.

Benadir is expected to have representation. The Hawiye have a point here actually. But HSM is going further than correcting Hawiye underrepresentation. There will be a 2 party system. Presumably, at least one of the parties will be Hirab led. It's possible that there will be 2 Hawiye led parties but more likely there will be non Hawiye led party with enormous support from the non Hirab Hawiye a-la Farmajo's administration. In addition to the formal Hawiye seats, there will be the XSM selected, expectedly Hawiye friendly, Dhulbahante and other Somaliland MPs.

Be careful what you wish for. Remember we just had dumbfuck president of Somaliland who sent Isakh soldiers to Las Anod which helped the recruitment efforts of the Ali Geri terrorist Abdi Madobe's coup against the rer Warsame ex leaders of Las Anod. Somalia and Somaliland would both be better served by an executive PM who serves at the mercy of parliamentary majority. Hawiye underrepresentation in the bunker is one thing. Auhtoritarian presidency is another.
