I just wondered why in the world would the Brits, Yankees, Canadians, Danish, etc, etc, bring foreigners to their countries and more shockingly handout their citizenships to strangers like your salves? there must be a hidden agenda.

I don't think there is a hidden agenda.

And yes u can be american-somali, british somali, danish somali.

Becoming a citizen doesn't necessarily mean you give up your heritage and assimilate 100%.

I do consider myself Muslim-American/Somali-American.


Integration (comfortably embracing both cultures) is important however o living a good in life in the West. Practice your faith and embrace the good things in wester culture that dont conflict with Islam. Muslim americans have done a great job integrating.

While the black indigenous Ausralians have been oppressed, their land and children taken away by successive govt's, and non-whites were not allowed to migrate to Australia till the 70's, Australia accepted many 1000's of Africans over the last 2 decades and were treated fairly good, why do they do it? Many things come to mind.

Fair enough, the only thing that makes you Somali lionheart, is the language and your birth place, imagine your kids and their kids how much of a Somali Americans they will be (Insha Allah)… we’re in no win situation we either go back and be Somalis or stay here to be the others.

With out going into details, I think this method is a way to establish globalization which is not necessarily confines to an economic demonomancy but also includes an ideological warfare in promoting the western values.

Well, that is partly true, and there are others who mention other reasons/factors such as the global refugee problems. Just came back from a 14 hour shift-work, and can't think properly at 10.30 a.m.

With Canada, it started in the 70's. We needed a serious growth in population in order to increase the tax base. (we're only 10% of the U.S pop.) It also helped keep the Trudeau Liberals in power for over twenty years. Immigrants here till this day still vote Liberal.

Mowhak has made some good points. The USA, Canada, Australia, NZ and the whole of the american continent belongs to non-whites. In theory there are no differences between somalis and the white leadership.

That could be one of the possibilities, but I would recommend by wining the hearts and minds of the women population in Canada, may well do the trick to increase votes since there are more women than men. Which can be more convenient and cost effective rather than bringing foreign immigrants to fill the ballot box.

Concerning bringing foreign tax payers’ i.e. work force, you absolutely right the west needs young people to work! Because all these customs and measures they’ve put in place such us birth controls, abortions and anxieties of children bringing hardships, played a big roll for them having an aging society. Regardless of the true essence, I think so many people have no clue and find it difficult to give one single answer, to why we come here?

We as Muslims living in these countries are really worried bringing up our kids in this land. There isn’t a major threat to our older generation as such, but what the later generation be like is our great concern- would they practice their religion, would they be brain washed… many things come to mind.

In your case DD sadly it looks like they horrendously knocked you out in the first round before even thinking of the second generation, I really hope your kids won’t go through what you’re undergone - I just feel sad for you DD.

It depends what you mean with being British, The English people themselfs don't know what British identity is, thats why they always have discussions on TV and Radio programs in England about being british or what they sometimes call "Britishness"

i think assimillating if we mean to completly submerge our children in cadaan culture and except it as something as vluable as our own culture, is dangerouse because this weakens and ultimately destroys our sense of self-identity

take for example...yahuud culture in 1930's germany; their assimilation into german society did not save them from near exitinction. it aided hitler in his genocide because he found in his yahuud victims an inability to find strength or pride from their jewish identity and organise a resistance along racial lines.
