Allowing Sex At Sixteen?
I remember my sister's boyfriend once saying to me that youngsters should be allowed to have sex as young as sixteen; I was horrified at the notion not least because I was a Salafi at the time, and the prospect of casual relationships between boys and girls was completely out of the equation- let alone letting them romp about in bed.
This conversation between him and I occurred a few years ago. Reflecting back on it now however, I find it extremely difficult and somewhat hypocritical to justify my opposition to young people having sex at sixteen (or perhaps younger depending on their level of maturity).
This question isn't one of religion, because Muslims too can have sexual relations as young as sixteen provided its done within the boundaries of marriage ( which raises a further question, as to the age limit that ought to be set for marriage).
Nor is this a question of legality, but rather a moral and ethical one. After all isnÂ’t sex a physical urge that ought to be gratified just as any other physical need?
Would you for example be tolerant of your child (if you choose to have any) having safe sex at sixteen?

I would allow my son/daughter to get married as young as 16 - even if I have to support them financially for 5 or more years.
Cause you want them to be able to focus on bigger things and not get those powerful sexual impulses dictate their lives 24/7.
Especially now, why would I want them to be sleeping around when 1 in 5 people in America has an uncurable STD. Plus, you don't know the disguisting things someone could have been doing the other day - no matter how good they look.
Gotta be careful.
Let my child and their spouse have their fun in a xalaal and safe way, better than this girl/boyfriend stuff. Plus, they will learn responsibility earlier.

This has got to be one of those rare ocassions in history where Good old Gedo-Boy and I take the same moral stance on a controversial position (enjoy it while it lasts people coz there won't be many more of them).
Let's take this debate one step further and introduce sex education into the equation: seeing as you're keenly in favour of what may be termed as "under aged sex" (within the set boundaries of marriage according to your moral position) would you also be in favour of pubescent children being taught sex education at school?
I know that many right wing puritans are outraged when sex education is taught at schools, denouncing it as a scandalous attempt to corrupt children, when really the purpose of sex education is to teach children about condom use and safe sex so they don't contract harmful viruses and diseases.
So would you given your liberal stance on sex at sixteen back sex education at schools?

"My sisters boyfreind" and "i was a salafi @ the time" .
hmmmm Am i the only one or is everyone else seeing the huge contradiction in them two sentences
I can swear This pathetic liar has never been a salafi or anything closeto them

I can't believe the level of immaturity of some of these folks. Rather than engaging the subject at hand, you decide in your mental depravity to focus on my sister's relationships. It speaks a lot about yourselves.
I expect that sort of vulgar response from our online illiterate hoodlum Sir Lug, but I'm terribly disappointed with you Rebel. I thought you were of the more enlightened Wahhabist wife beaters, but evidently not.
As for Cool Man, he too misses the mark by a mile. The minor point of whether I was a Salafi then or not is immaterial. It has absolutely no relevance to the topic being discussed.
