I read an article about it in the Boston Globe not too long ago. According to the Article, there were some Israeli troops who were executing a bunch of captured Egyptian prisoners. I can't remember why. Anyone, the liberty had collected evidence of this, or the Israelis were afraid it had, and thus chose to attack it.
It's an interesting theory, but I would have thought it would be easier to suppress evidence of and deny and killing of POWs than it would have been to risk severe political fallout by attacking a US military ship.
In the event, the USG was much too lenient about this. Of course, they were pretty lenient about the Stark attack as well.

There was a book on it, called: "The Assault on the USS Liberty"...or something like that.

What we don't know about Zionist activities would probably cause some people to go insane.
It's not just animosity based on religion that is causing anger towards the Zionists.........
There was a Republican lady that called into C-SPAN radio the other day with the most Southern US accent you can have praising & praying for Hizbollah.
They are doing a pretty good job instigating a war against the Muslim world, but Allah promised us and His Prophet (saw) that Islam will prevail on this Earth.

Allah and his Prophet lied, Islam isn't going anywhere.
The Zionists are not evil. And if you insist on analyzing this conflict in terms of good and evil, or right and wrong, your analysis will always turn out to be crap. You got to be neutral to be a decent analyst.
The Zionists feel like they are grossly outnumbered and despised by a large portion of the world. This influences their behavior and has a clear cut impact on their ability to trust diplomatic promises. Their position and their actions make sense from their standpoint.
Gedo, if you want to understand the world, then you have to take of the Islamic sunglasses when trying to figure it out. Otherwise everything you look at will be tainted and flawed and all of your conclusions will be wrong. You can wear the glasses when leading your personnel life, but if you try and see the world through them, you will be blind.

MAD MAC,
The world's attention wouldn't be focused on Islam if it wasn't going anywhere.
Trust me, if I take my Islamic sunglasses off I would be completely jaded by this world.
islam puts it all into perspective.
There's too much injustice for this world for it to just all end and nothing to happen.........
That violates the laws of science........there's balance or at least correction in everything , from the financial markets to the environment.

"The world's attention wouldn't be focused on Islam if it wasn't going anywhere."
In 1940,the worlds attention was focussed on Fascism. Does that need mean that fascism was going somewhere?
"Trust me, if I take my Islamic sunglasses off I would be completely jaded by this world."
As well you should be.
"islam puts it all into perspective."
Islam is a fantasy that you are indulging in because you can't deal with reality.

There is no more or less injuse now than there was 1,000 years ago. The world is what it is.
"That violates the laws of science........there's balance or at least correction in everything , from the financial markets to the environment."
There never has been in the past. Why should there be in the future.
