Harti Vs SNF over Kismayu!!

I was a witness!

It could be called the war on top of the world. At altitudes of 30 feet, in temperatures of 45 centigrade and winds of 50 mph, where rain stain forms between the toes in one's boot, Harti led by Morgan and SNF led by Ahmed Warsmae wage a battle for Kismayu city. In the disputed city of Kismayu , Harti and SNF are locked in a struggle over what some political called the 'pay back war', an expanse of rain interrupted by plateau and rains, where number of soldiers have died in what is the most known slogan for Harti the 'Kismayu city with a wrong hands'!.

The Kismayu conflict between Harti and SNF has been going for quite some times , and the two big Darod clans were not any closer to resolving the dispute for ages. The conflict started 6 years ago when Harti kicked SNF and Marehan civilians out of the city , claiming that Kismayu is Harti land. As a result, what Harti called ' Ilka yar' was out of the city for over 3 years. Both sides have considerable forces in the region and regularly shell or raid the other's position. But the greatest foe is the environment itself. The rainfall temperatures, disease like mosquito, not enemy bullets, were caused many of the deaths and injuries from SNF side during those three good years in the countryside.

Supplying the troops is especially difficult because the few overland routes are vulnerable to avalanches. SNF, whose positions are of higher plateau and more visible by enemey. because of the extreme conditions. And yet both sides continue this fight.

The war takes terrible cause and unforgettable lessons on Harti in particular, which used to occupy almost the entire city , and therefore suffered greater casualties. In addition to the fatalities, Harti troops are driven out of the city whereas their leader Morgan ended up last seen Somalia-Kenya border. Harti soldiers suffer from what is called "Ilka-yar syndrome," a psychological disorder requiring treatment and therapy in many cases. Furthermore, the damage cost of the war was estimated at many lives . Although Kismayu ended up in the hands of SNF and Marehan fighters, the situation necessitates closure. No civilian from any tribe including Majertein were targated. SNF restored the confident of the people whereas majority of the Kismayu population showed their willingness of colloboration.

It is pointless for Harti to waste more men and materiel to fight again for and claim a Kismayu with no Harti population today. Harti can only dream to recapture the city, not by force which is impossible, but by playing the Majertein political game that is dividing SNF into many factions within Sade community. Arming Itihad and creating anti-SNF diaspora leaders. Whatever the outcome might be, given the history of animosity between Harti and SNF, however, a unilateral division would be akin to defeat SNF, which is not a politically acceptable option by Sade community.

There is a possible remedy for Harti to be part of Kismayu citizen that is they should stop saying that Kismayu is a Harti land instead they should coloborate with SNF authorities to make Kismayu a better city for every Somali citizen, no matter what clan one is entitle to... The problem for Harti is that it is difficult for them to reestablish a hold in the city, since the SNF occupies now Kismayu city and its regions which is more accessible land for every Somali citizen.

SNF have never nationaly or internationaly claim success from the victory over Kismayu, knowing that the city is its on thier hands. Furthermore, SNF ensured that every Somali citizen should have every right to live in Kismayu and the city itself permits fair access to every Somali.

SNF and its diaspora captured Kismayu from the Harti self- ruled in two years ago. This war was a costly and necessary war for SNF to restore their dignity of being 'Marehan' and the battle ended with honor. Such a solution has appeal to Sade community as a whole where Harti side, was impossible to give up the city whereas Majertein begun cursing on Morgan for the defeat. . With the learnt lessons, it would be politically incorrect today for Harti, to any future reattempt, restart conflict with SNF, as well as the rest of the Somali militias. Because SNF proved that Harti is fragile and this dark era of Somali history, the rest of the Somali factions witnessed that Majertein is a clan with a little brain named 'a Caqli-Yar'.

In order to restore the ' Darodism' which is what we all need to hear over Kismayu or any other place in Somalia, Harti must apologize for all Somalis mainly SNF, and they should also ban the idea of Kismayu being a Harti land instead of Somali Land (do not confuse with Riyal's Somali land). By doing so, Harti would have come back to Kismayu and would have been treated as a Darod.
