Galol, Sign me up. The American Israel Political Action Committee were instruemental in supporting the SYL campaign for the independence of Italian Somaliland. They helped fund the SYL during their stays in New York in the 1950s as they lobbied at the UN for Somali independence in 1960. Israel supported the Somali cause while the Arabs refused and said that Libya deserved independence in 1960 while Somalia should wait until 1970.
