Televission---what do you think of this monster?

Post by Mowhawk »

Images and pictures tell 1000's of stories, T.V is a powerful tool.

I had a T.V ( for a year) and since I moved places, and found out there is nothing worth to watch except chereographed wars, bloodshed and the intent to make you a monster consumer, I relegated it to the dustbin. Friends always discuss what they see on tele, and that irritates me. I also see the trend on these boards. Therefore, I decided when I start a family, there will be no T.V in my house, I don't want my kids being brainwashed by others. The school which requires a strongly parental intervention will be enough.

Have your say?

So, what do you do at home? I know you don't want to watch them. But they're just entertainment.. It doesn't have to be as serious as you make it out to be.. Somethings are very useful you know... Like the History Channel! Laughing

Too much of Tv is bad. Max 2-3Hours per day.
There are people even Kids in America that spends 10-12Hours/day watching Tv.
That's more than a full-time Job. Lack of Exercise while sitting and watching Tv in many Hours has taken it's toll on people and that's why there're alot Obese people around.

T.V-free home here Smile It's not that I think it's haram, but it's a personal choice not to allow myself to be brainwashed, and I don't think it's right to actually pay to have my bring the kind of filth it contains in to my home. Why pay to corrupt your family?

A lot of people make the assumption that without T.V, the portals to knowledge and education are closed... Rubbish. We have a computer if we need research or entertainment, and there is always the trusty library.

TV is quite usefull actually. Mainly for dessiminating information, reachable to billions of ppl that would otherwise be difficult if not impossible.

Do you like to watch WC finals? If yes, then unless you're part of the lucky few thousand who have tickets, TV is your only means.

Like with all things in life, exercise personal responsibility... dose your pleasures and poisons... it's really up to you to decide what take away from TV.

Mohawk,

So many families don't keep TV in their homes... For sure most of the time it is waste of time and children learn so many bad things if what they are watching is not monitered...I wouldn't be without TV but I would moniter strongly what my kids are watching...

If you forbid the whole idea of TV they may like it more as in "The forbidden fruits tastes the sweetest" Laughing

chilli not everyone has 5 channels anymore in the uk. everyone now has sky with 1000's of channels it's digital tv. and by 2012 every home is gonna go digital.

A HOUSE WITHOUT A TV IS NOT A HOME AT ALL.
dont watch to much tv...but there are important things like news, following whats going on in the world. without the tv you'll be ignorant...tv teaches u alot of good things...also bad things but just watch the good things. u have a choice out of a 1000 channels, watch wats important and knowlegable to you.
