The CIA wants UN to lift embargo on Somalia

Post by qardasay »

The government of Uganda has sent its minister of foreign affairs, Sam Kutesa, to the United Nations to among others persuade the UN to lift the security embargo imposed on Somalia.

The UN imposed a security embargo on Somalia which does not allow any movement of fire arms to the war ravaged eastern Africa country.

Uganda's minister of information and national guidance, Kirunda Kivejinja, told journalists in Kampala on Thursday that the governmentÂ’s move is intended to open up an avenue for the Uganda PeopleÂ’s Defence Forces to send troops to monitor peace in Somalia.

Kivejinja said that sending troops to Somalia is a regional obligation to ensure peace and stability in the regions.
