Why racism and prejudice is shorn of Logic

Post by dhuusa_deer »

Many of you by now have come accustomed to my unwavering predilection to Logic and Evidence as my twin pillars of personal credo. It's my contention from that purely logical standpoint racism and all other prejudices are wrong. Not wrong because it's morally reprehensible (morality is derived from logic anyways but that's for another thread) but wrong because it's irrational. What do I mean?

Say a group of ppl have associated with them certain negative stereotypes. And you meet an individual from the said group. To make a judgement of this individual, you can't LOGICALLY go by stereotypes ascribed to the group he/she hails from. For it stands to reason that the individual may exhibit all the stereotypes of the group, some or none at all. To make proper and rationally tenable opinion of the said individual requires individually based assessment of merits and shortcomings.

Q.E.D. Bigotry is illogical and rationally untenable.
