Anyone know what Somalis worshipped before Islam?

i read from somewhere long ago, that during the Egyptian Empire there was Egyptian "God" (he wasnt really a god, just statue) called Qorax, he was the God of sun! somali:qorax=sun. link? maybe!

Afro-Asiatic languages, they are all virtually the same.

Arabic, Oromo, Hebrew, Beja, Berber, Somali - very close languages.

I don't understand why some people are resistant to our true history and instead want to believe myths about an Arab origin for our culture. We don't speak arabic. Most of us look nothing like them. The people who we share a language with and look like, all live in AFRICA and as far as I know I don't hear the Oromo claiming to be descendant from Arabs.

If anything we are NOT from the Arabs but rather they are from us.

Africa is the birthplace of man. The arabs along with everyone else is descendant from us.

Only reason I talk about Islam more on this site is because most Somalis are muslim. All religions are utterly ridiculous to me and how anyone can still believe them in this day and age with so much knowledge out there refuting these myths is beyond me. I guess some people are weak and need reassurance from religion that their life means something and death isn't the end.

Well hate to break it to ya but the chances YOUR god exists are next to nothing. There have been gods before Allah and there will be gods after him created by people. Shit the Arabs themselves used to worship "Allah" as one of their pagan deities before Muhammad. Allah was the moon god then and has now become just God. The only reason you believe in Islam is cause you were born into it. If you lived 5,000 years ago you wouldn't be muslim. You would be a pagan. If you were born Italian then you would be Catholic, if you born a white American then you would be Protestant, if you born an Indian then you would be Hindu, if you were born Burmese then you would be Buddhist.....and so on. Almost all peoples religious faith is nothing more than what their parents raised them as.

And you right, life is short. So instead of worrying about an afterlife that may or may not exist, I'll worry about living every moment of my life to the fullest because you never know when it'll end. I personally find it funny how you religious folk waste the life you're assured right now for an afterlife that may or may not exist. If hell fire exists then so be it. I don't think there is enough evidence of a God that has a design for our lives and will punish us, but if that is the case I'll know that at least I lived as happy a life as I could in this world. Just know that my reluctance to believe is not that I am opposed to the concept of religion but rather that I don't see ANY evidence for this miraculous God you people believe in. Maybe if he appeared to me like he did Muhammad then I would believe. But as of now I take him as a myth created by a desert nomad just like Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Waaqism, etc.

Archeologist can find many things in Somali Walle... my Mom and Uncle claim they saw an ancient ruin in Somali they even went inside and played in there as children they found a grave with Golden objects showed it to grandma but it was too heavy and she left it.. she was scared of jinni and never went back
