Fah - The people believed in the ICU, the people believe in Sh.Shariif, that is what gives this TFG a proper shot at building Somalia again. The warmongers know that, that's why Al-Shabab e.t.c. are around. War means good business to some. But the time will come, nothing ever stays the same.

AlHabaab will self-destruct before they reach Puntland IMO. They're making too many enemies and too few friends with their tactics and treatment of the populations they lord over. Chopping the hands of petty thieves but accommodating big time thieves who occupy farms and properties of people. Justice, by definition, has to be consistent. Justice that is administered arbitrarily is perforce unjust. The law of hand chopping should apply to ALL thieves or none at all.

They've already made one military blunder after another from over-stretching their forces to leaving their flanks exposed to over-concentrating their forces in non-strategic locations.

BTW, Ethiopia WILL come back IF Alshabaab continue to occupy one Somali region after another. And they can do it on the cheap without straining their meager resources.

Cali Gaab, alhabaab has at least 3,000 troops but only few hundred of these are true, hardcore and committed alhabaabs. The rest are local militias who join them for local reasons. Which implies that the true numbers of Alhabaab "could" close to 10, 000 if not more since every disgruntled local militia or clans wanting to settle old scores can re-hat themselves as alhabaabs.

Ethiopia has 85 million people and can afford a war of attrition against less than 10 million Somalis of which only 2-3 million are actually engaging the Ethiopians. Actually, a war of attrition is a good population control method for Ethiopia. Also, wars are proven formula for nation making and creating social cohesion. The more Ethiopia wages limited wars against tiny neighbors like Somalia and Eritrea, the more it takes pressure off from domestic issues and whips up patriotic frenzy.
